PRESS STATEMENT
June 11, 2011
Why can’t Shantay Chandler and her family live in peace? The answer to this question appears to be no peace for this family because the city public safety apparatus does not want citizens to understand the brutal behavior perpetrated toward this family by police. Ms. Chandler’s youngest sons were determined by Carl Brizzi, then Marion County prosecutor, to have exhibited no behavior that rose to the level of being a crime yet when IMPD left the scene the world has saw Brandon Johnson with a chipped cheek bone, teeth kicked out, eyes beat closed, and his head swollen beyond normality. All of Brandon’s injuries were caused by IMPD police officers. Yet not a one faced charges for having beat an innocent 15 year old child that the prosecutor said committed no crime.
"I'm tired of the lip service given to gang activity in Marion County," said Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry.
Well I am tired to this city which involves the IMPD, the Prosecutor, and the Public Safety director trying to cover up the criminal behavior of some IMPD officers toward Ms Chandler’s family. This latest so-called gang arrest is just another ruse by the city to make it appear IMPD is making the streets safer when in actuality IMPD is allowing the city to be more dangerous. These city agencies are waging a psychological war to deceive citizens into believing that criminal behavior by IMPD is actually good for public safety. Let me clarify.
In the Probable Cause Affidavit filed by Officer Erika Jones it states that on May 26, 2010 Terrence Cooper confesses to driving Freddie Harris, Willie Morris & James Taylor to a fight where shots are fired but it appears none of these so-called gang members were arrested. I say appears because if the youth were charged and arrested in May why are these charges appearing again in June 2011? How did IMPD make Indianapolis streets safer by leaving youth on the streets who like to shoot up each other? What evidence does the prosecutor have now that was not available then that dictates charges being filed and will allow a successful conviction? This same question can be ask about Terrell Jackson, Cameron White, Terrace Cooper, Willie Harris & Perry Johnson for the facts of a crime on December 11, 2010. If Terrence Cooper had been arrested on May 26 then he would not have been available to commit a crime on December 11. Lack of policing obviously made the streets more dangerous, not safer. So what has happened in June 2011 that the prosecutor now feels he can prove the crime committed in May 2010? "This is not something that has come about in the past week month or six months," said Frank Straub, public safety director for the city of Indianapolis. Well Frank you are exactly right. The question is why did not you remove crime off the streets immediately so others in the city would not be victims? Why wasn’t the so-called gang members removed immediately for committing the crimes? What facts about the crimes now will help prove the case? Although you are now charging the group with being a gang the elements to prove the crimes committed do not change. What element does the prosecutor have that was not available in 2007, or 2010 that is available now that will cause successful convictions? I am telling you this whole press conference and arrests are nothing more than a poorly concocted psychological strategy to cover up the criminal behavior of IMPD and in the process try to make the public think the streets are safer at the expense of Ms. Chandler and her family.
More questions: Cameron White, Willie Harris, Perry Johnson, William McCoy, James Taylor were all juveniles when they supposedly committed the crimes for which they are charged. The charge filed against Terrell Jackson for a crime supposedly committed in 2007 would have made him a thirteen (13) year old child!! William McCoy and James Taylor are not charged with a crime. They are charged with being seen hanging around with these other guys. Why weren’t these charges filed in juvenile court? Can you file charges against a juvenile in adult court without there being a hearing? This affidavit is raising a lot of question about the legal behavior of the Indianapolis justice system. It is just psychological warfare to cover up the IMPD illegal entry into Ms. Chandler’s home on March 9, 2011 with cooperation from the Prosecutor and Frank Straub. Here’s why I say so.
On June 7, 2011the charges that came from IMPD’s illegal invasion of Ms. Chandler’s home were dismissed against Miketavious and Terrell Jackson. The charges were dismissed because the prosecution said it was not ready to defend the warrant that was used to invade Ms. Chandler’s home. However two days later these same charges are filed again in this so-called big gang bust. The timing is suspect!! We clearly see IMPD in conspiracy with the Public Safety Director and Prosecutor and are attempting to make these youths’ behavior bigger and more serious than what it is. In all of the crimes the most serious is nothing more than petty street crimes. Yes, someone could have gotten seriously hurt, so why did not the police make the arrests immediately? This whole media circus, in my opinion, is to a poor attempt by IMPD with its co-conspirators of the Public Safety Director and the prosecutor, to cover-up the illegal entry of Ms. Chandler’s home and the brutal beating of Brandon by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
It is time for the brutalization and the victimization of this family to stop. Truthfully speaking, Terrell Jackson has some problems. Hopefully this experience will make him serious about turning his life around. He has told me he wants to, but right now his behavior says something different. However, to drag the rest of the family down for his behavior is unjust and unfair. Ms. Chandler’s family is really a down home Mississippi family that came north seeking a better quality of life. They are really good people. To tie Miketavious to this so-called gang activity could not be further from the truth. I, as the spiritual advisor for the family, would ask that Mayor Ballard call off the unnecessary interaction the IMPD is prompting with this family and be responsible for the unjust behavior that Brandon has experienced at the hands of Officers Piland, Clothier, and Carney. Truly enough is enough. It is time for Ms. Chandler and her family to be left in peace. Rev. Mmoja Ajabu

From Cynthia McKinney: Secret Bombings, Stealing Oil, Stealing a Continent, NATO's Libyan Child Soldiers?, Vietnam War Lies

Yesterday, I went to the home of a darker-skinned Libyan murdered by the Libyan NATO allies because of the color of his skin. I will write a full report of this shocking meeting.

Revelations of secret bombing in Yemen bring President Obama closer to Lyndon Baines Johnson and Richard Nixon and their secret bombings of Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam War than is appropriate for any Nobel Peace Laureate. How many wars is this President going to start? As many as the American people will allow.

Der Spiegel reports that the Pentagon released the remaining papers of the Pentagon Papers while admitting that lies were told about the war. We know that. But here it is from them. The four volumes of the Gravel Papers can be accessed through Der Spiegel by clicking on the link below. How many more lies will the U.S. government tell the American people and the international community? As many as the American people will allow.

Are NATO's allies child soldiers? Isn't that against the law? So what else is new with this war? How long will war crimes and crimes against humanity be committed by NATO? As long as the American people allow these crimes to be committed.

Ajabu-

What these thugs need is simply a quick 3-tap upside the head.
It would save the citizens of this community a lot of grief, wasted tax dollars, and stop the murders and robberies these jack-offs are responsible for.
What kind of a wussy joins a gang like this?? They should be more aptly named.....
"The Whack-it-off-Wusses"....much more fitting.
Too bad 'da mommies didn't get to Planned Parenthood.

What a bunch of losers- let's re-institute the chain gangs just for these morons.

Rev. Mmoja Ajabu’s Response To:
Hogsett Calls For More Comprehensive Approach To
Address Gun-Related Violence

In a June 11, 2011 release by the above titled United States Attorney General for the Southern District of Indiana Joseph H. Hogsett called for more cooperation between federal and local law enforcement. He lamented about Clayton R. Battice, Sr. who was killed earlier in the week and a total of four people killed during the week. On Tuesday, June 14, 2011 the AG met with Sheriff John Layton, Public Safety Director Frank Straub, and Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry. After the meeting he spoke with the press and told us it was a meaningful meeting without giving much detail. As the spiritual advisor to the family of Shantay Chandler, the mother of Brandon Johnson, I would advise all who met to not to limit the definition of “comprehensive.” I have seen firsthand the violence perpetrated on Terrell Jackson, one of Ms. Chandler’s older sons. He was shot three times and recently arrested as the leader of the Pop It Off Boyz. Before his arrest I was talking with him extensively to turn his life around. I was able to get him to commit to no retaliation for the black male youths that shot him and his cousin. He personally committed but stated he could only speak for himself. During our conversation he asked me the following very provocative question; how do you expect me to turn my life around in light of how the police got away with beating my brother. Now those are not his exact words but it makes the following point.

Prosecutor Carl Brizzi’s investigation determined that both Brandon and his brother Vincent, although they were arrested, neither had displayed behavior that rose to the level of being a crime. Yet, Brandon was beaten by Officers Carney, Clothier, and Piland. The beating cause Brandon to have a chipped cheek bone, teeth kicked out, eyes to be swollen shut, knee strikes to the head that testimony at the Police Civilian Review Board hearing was testified to be deadly force, and psychological problems to wit the magnitude of the damage is still to be determined. If Brandon’s mother, brother, or friend beat him like he was beaten all would have been charged with a crime. But it seems that because the beating was administered by police officers then both Prosecutor Brizzi and now Curry has refused to file charges against the officers. Our children, as well as the rest of the public are not stupid. We all can see the disparity in how this justice is administered. It sends the message that police can break the law and not be held accountable by the law. The law should apply equally and fairly to all citizens no matter what their stake in life. Whether Mayor, Public Safety Director, Prosecutor, police officer, or citizen on the street the law must apply to all equally.

Therefore, Attorney General Hogsett, do not limit the meaning of comprehensive. My stature in the streets, if coordinated with your resources in the suites can really be an important partnership that can generate a sincere impact that will see more peace in the streets. If we can agree on comprehensive being comprehensive then I am willing to help make Indianapolis a more world class city that has safer streets. As we agreed Tuesday after your meeting at the Prosecutor’s office I will call to set up a meeting so we can talk about a coordinated effort. Thank you for listening to AjabuSpeaks. –

I commend you Sir,

For your straightforward tenacity...which only accepts "transparent" responses to "obviously" opaque situations. I realize that some people do not see all...because it not only takes a village to raise a child...it takes a village to "run" said village as well. Each one has SOMETHING to contribute.

Great letter.
Great offer to "the powers that be..."

Please keep up this type of "diplomacy". I would say that you have not only stood up...but like Obama...you bring dialogue WITH solutions to the table.

This...is what is needed in my opinion. More...than just talk, or dislike of those in office...OR dislike of unacceptable policies and/or procedures...your letter displays your great ability to lead...and also to work hand in hand with others. You and I always knew it was...always so. Many more... will be enlightened by your well thought out letter.

It is good...when we can honestly and without fear...voice our knowledge of problems...great or small.

But it is excellent when we can lead others...to a peaceful AND effective "end".

Not that you "need it"...but nonetheless wanting to share that I am...

Proud of you,

God Speed my Brother in Christ...God Speed.

Hopefully Melina will tell you to shut the **** up and ignore your dumbasses. The only one they should listen to is Rev Harrison. he actually has some good ideas and knows that the youth are out of contol in this city and doesnt stand up for those little punk ass thugs and by that I mean Shantay Chandlers children. By the way Shatay Chandler is one of the biggest bitches I have ever met in my life.

Robert Oliver sent me the best line yet for President Obama's defense of what he is doing in Libya--reminiscent of the now-famous words of one of our former Presidents, also caught in a lie: I did not have war with that country!" Cute, Robert.

1. Read Ellen Brown on Libya; Read Ellen Brown on the Federal Reserve--just read Ellen Brown!
2. Hear Michael Hudson talk about how President Obama's economic predators are at work domestically and internationally - look up his videos online;
3. And then, finally, view this cute little video sent to me by Ati; please take a look at the rest of the videos on the page that disclose Qaddafi's vision of a United States of Africa and a gold-backed African currency - and we know who's got the gold, and a one million person army to counter AFRICOM and European threats to African self-determination: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmxQlQk3uRA&feature=relatedhttp://www.aljazeerah.info/O pinion%20Editorials/2011/May/2%20o/America%27s%20New%20Middle%20East%And,

And, oh yes, they bombed again last night a place where civilians gather every night. First of all, they know civilians are there because it's broadcast on Libyan TV every night. Civilians gather there, and even get married there. There have been two weddings there since I have been here. The blast was so forceful, many, many kilometers away I felt it.

I commend the Members of Congress who are upholding their Constitutional duties and forcing our President to abide by the U.S. Constitution and the War Powers Act. The American people can force this President to uphold international law, too. Targeted assassination, extra-judicial killing, targeting of civilians, collective punishment--all illegal.

Now, for those who refuse to hear the cacophony of the NATO media wurlitzer, I sought out some Libyans and asked them some questions about the mysterious hit piece targeting me that appeared on twitter. Here are their responses to my questions (pardon me, this is the raw, unedited content):

1. the name is not a common Libyan name
2. the Green Book was implemented in March 2 1977; the economic aspects of the Green Book were gradually deviated from starting in about 1989; accelerated in the mid-90s and became totally absent in the service sector except banking, and not in security sector; the trend has been toward more opening at the behest of the United States and the Western countries
3. he said that the system must be made more effective, starting about 10 years ago
4. Tabouh are the free borders nomads with camels; Tabouh from Niger, Chad and Libya are recognized as Libyans.
5. Janjaweed are a part of the culture of Sudan; always tried to work with US Congress thanked Libya for opening the humanitarian aid to the areas
6. There are two cars in front of all of the houses; food is subsidized--basic foodstuffs 100% for last 20 years, water, elec is subsidized; everything is cheap; running water in housing, everyone has housing; no area is without primary care, streetlighting, electricity; those who complain want more for themselves and object to spend money on Africa
7. the unemployed get a monthly stipend to live on with, but the jobs that need to be done, many Libyans don't want to do that work
8. 2 million guest worker laborers were evacuated, there is opportunity for work in Libya
9. about 12,000 Libyan students on average every student is paid 1500 dinars per month plus family allowance, plus university fees, etc.

After yet again being ignored in its legal and legitimate demands for the Europeans to stop bombing Africa's Libya, the African Union has issued its intentions to respond

HeyU Quality Ads

Mathaba has learned that the African Union is intending to pull out of the United Nations Organization unless NATO stops bombing fellow AU member Libya.

The African Union (AU) is also demanding a United Nations Security Council seat for the African Union, and the removal of both France and Britain as permanent security council members and replacing them with one European Union representation or Germany.

The African Union is also lobbying the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) as well as the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) non Arab members for support.

South America and the powerful BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are likely either support or not oppose the African Union with which they have good and respectful relations.

The conflict against Libya has pitted white racist former colonial powers Britain, France, Italy, Belgium and Holland against Africa's gateway and crown, its longest northern shore-line, and most powerful and wealthy state, Libya.

The United States of America, which is in economic meltdown, has spearheaded the attack on Libya with Obama having come under unprecedented attack from Africans and African Americans for allowing himself to serve a resource-grab on Africa.

Mathaba Analysts have already warned of the outbreak of World War III due to rapidly developing fault lines and the break-down of law and order in the international arena, with several NATO states and allies having recognized terrorists in lieu of the Libyan government.

See related item link below on the African Union warning first issued 5 days ago which has been ignored with no let-up in the white European bombings of black Africa:

When two million Blacks moved from the rigidly-segregated South to the North, West and Midwest from 1910 to 1930, it was called the Great Migration. When another five million African-Americans fled the South between 1940 and 1970, many seeking good jobs and a better life in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit, it was called the Second Great Migration.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk thinks it is now time for a Third Great Migration, this one to far-flung cities around the world. He advanced that argument in his office, which is directly across the street from the Old Executive Office Building.

“Whether you’re Black, White, Brown or whatever, the No. 1 concern of American families is: ‘Where am I going to find a job? More importantly, where is this kid that I just spent x amount of money getting out of college going to find a job?’”

The job market has undergone a global revolution.

“I don’t know why my friends are upset when I say to them, ‘If all your kids do is what we’ve been doing, we haven’t advanced the ball,’ “said Kirk, who served as mayor of Dallas and Texas Secretary of State. “Our kids are going to live in London, in Shanghai, or in Abuja (Nigeria). It’s just as likely they’ll be stationed in Johannesburg as Detroit or New York.”

That migration to London, Shanghai, Abuja and Johannesburg has been propelled by new opportunities opened up by advances in technology and the international removal of quotas, tariffs and outrageous export fees.

And there’s also Sutton’s Law. When bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he reputedly replied, “Because that’s where the money is.” Sutton’s law dictates that one does not ignore the obvious.

“One way to create wealth and a better life – assuming you make something – is to think about selling it to the 95 percent of the people who don’t call the United States home,” Kirk advised. “If you look at the Fortune 100 companies, the absolute common denominator among them right now is that they, for the most part, are singularly looking at how they are going to access these hundreds of millions of young people who are growing up in Africa, Asia, India, and Latin America and are hungry for something called, ‘Made in America.’”

Kirk believes America can profit from that sentiment.

“If you want to attack the job growth problem –and the president firmly believes in this – whatever we can do to empower and enable small businesses to grow faster is a great way to grow our economy,” he explained. “And, so a big part of our trade work has been targeting, first, those small businesses that already export and learning more about them, what their challenges are and trying to remove them.

“And secondly, that universe of people that have never exported, either because they are afraid or they’re saying, ‘How am I going to find customers?’ That’s why we’re putting out more information about the Export Import Bank. The bottom line: they finance your sale.”

Kirk said African-Americans have not exploited their special connections to Africa and the Caribbean.

“Corporate America realizes, ‘If I am going to go to Brazil, I better find somebody who speaks Spanish and understands the culture,’” he said. “If I am going to Africa, I am much better served by having somebody who understands the values, reflects the culture and knows the ropes in Kenya, Ghana and West Africa. I want our young people to realize, ‘You’re more marketable now in a global, competitive society than you might have ever been.’ But you got to think globally.”

Black businesses must also look beyond the shores of the United States, the trade official said. He said the Commerce Department and his office provides assistance to small businesses trying to engage in international trade.

“The generation that grew up on the Web – where they live, breathe, educate and shop – is a little less intimidated,” Kirk said. “I tell people, once you put up a Web site, you’re global. On the Web, nobody knows whether you’re a woman, Catholic, Black, tall or straight. All they want to know is, ‘I see you got a product. I think it might be able to help me. How do I get at it?’ If you’re not intimidated by doing business over the Web, I don’t think it’s that much of a leap to begin thinking about global trade.”

Despite anti-American sentiment in some countries, Kirk said the U.S. is still a strong brand.

“They’ll complain that maybe our products cost a little more,” Kirk said. “They will complain, ‘You preach to us too much. You come over here and tell us about corruption, democracy, rule of law and, frankly, if we do a deal with China, we don’t have to go through all of that.’

“But at the end of the day, there is an implied value proposition that if I buy this from George and Ron, it’ll probably work the way they say it will. It’s not counterfeit. If something goes wrong, America has a legal system that can help me hold them accountable.’ That’s a huge advantage for us.”

Kirk strikes a cautionary note about international business. “It’s a huge opportunity,” he said. But don’t rush into it.”
