Conservative Christians; Michelle Obama & The "B" Word
CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS; MICHELLE OBAMA & THE “B” WORD
Why would someone want to connect themselves with the term “Christian Conservative” when people like Burt Prelutsky represents them? The nation would be in an uproar if someone had called Barbara Bush a “bitch.” The country got upset when Jesse Jackson before the election called then Senator Obama the “N” word. But just think, use your holy imagination to vision how much more the magnitude of the uproar would have been if he had called George Bush’s wife or the then President's mother a “bitch?” The people who own Townhall are supposed to be conservative Christians. Prager, Ann Coulter, and Michael Medved, Thomas Sowell, etc, are all columnist on that website supposedly owned by people who call themselves conservative Christians. This term “conservative Christian” really was confusing me. How can someone who calls someone intentionally out of their name, out of their human character, identify themselves as a Christian?
Therefore, I looked it up in the Encarta World English Dictionary. Conservative is defined “as reluctant to accept change” (p. 386). Conservatism is defined “as a right-wing political viewpoint” (p. 386). Those are the words of the dictionary, not mine. I will have something to say once I lay the foundation, but it is the dictionary that defines “conservatism: as a right-wing political viewpoint.” This same dictionary defines “Christian” as a “believer in Jesus Christ as savior, somebody who believes that Jesus of Nazareth was sent to the world by God to save humanity, and who tries to follow his teachings and example” (p. 325). This same dictionary defines “Christ” as “Jesus Christ, the messiah according to the Bible, a savior who would come to deliver God’s chosen people” (p. 325). Hummm.
So to synthesize these definitions I would conclude that Christian Conservatives as defined by Dennis Prager and Salem Communications is someone who is a right-winger who is reluctant to change because they feel they are chosen by Jesus the Mesiah who will be sent by God to the world to save humanity, and calling the First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, a “bitch” is an example of Jesus’ behavior and teachings which will cause Jesus to acknowledge conservatives as His chosen. Dawn you call yourself a Christian Conservative. From your writings on this blog, surely you don't agree with these Christian Conservatives, do you? Are you happy to be associated with this crowd? What scripture reference are they using?
Jesus inadvertently referred to the Canaanite woman as a “dog” (Matthew 15:21-28), is this their scriptural reference? Let me just share that scripture:
Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting. “Have mercy on me , Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.” But He did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, “Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us. He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord help me.” He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed instantly.
If this is the scripture then they need to read on. Obviously, this woman, who was a Canaanite, which means she was a Black woman, made Jesus change his mission. For later in Matthew 28:19 Jesus expands the mission beyond the “lost sheep of Israel” when he tells the disciples to “go forth into all the nations and make disciples. If conservatives call themselves reluctant to change from Jesus’ behavior in Matthew 15 then they need to read on to the end of the book. Wouldn’t you say these conservative so-called Christians need to repent and apologize to our First Lady? Now you do say you are disgruntled, so are you disgruntled with these people who call themselves Christian Conservatives? If so, I can see why. Please help us to understand.
I cannot even begin to fathom that Jesus now would support anyone calling any woman a girl dog let alone using that derogatory term in reference to the First Lady of this nation. Obvious to me, these so-called Christian are not reluctant to change from the teachings or behavior of Jesus that we find in the Bible. They are locked in the past. My studies would not lead me to equate calling our First Lady out of her name as a Christian attitude, or Christlike behavior. That raises the question; from what are these conservatives reluctant to change?
From Prager’s words it appears that racism and sexism might be high on the list. That behavior needs to be history in this nation. Unfortunately, it keeps rearing its ugly head in our present day life. Christian Conservatives would have us to believe that just because a Black man is now President of the United States that racism has been erased and forever diminished from the nation's landscape. Prelutsky helps us to clearly see that racism is still alive and well in America. Some will defend Prelutsky by saying lighten up. It's a joke. Well it ain't too funny to me.
Carefully read the following. You will understand why I say what I say. We truly must decrease this conservative so-called Christian hate and increase genuine Christian love. Thank you for listening to AjabuSpeaks.

Townhall: Michelle Obama is a Bitch, Get It?
Mar. 23, 2009
Burt Prelutsky was a TV writer a long time ago. Then he aged out of it and became a crank. This wasn't one of those major loses like Steinbeck. Now he writes a column for Townhall.com, the popular website owned by a Christian radio network. Here's something from his current offering: Take Michelle Obama...please. Every time I turn around, there she is on a magazine cover. Now, normally, like the Mafia, I lay off the spouses, but inasmuch as this particular spouse attended the same racist church as her hubby for 20 years, I'll make an exception in her case. After all, in spite of the fact that affirmative action got her an Ivy League degree and a $7,000-a-week salary and, moreover, has sent billions of dollars for no particularly good reason to Africa, she insists this is a mean country. The burning question in my circle is: if the First Family gets a female dog, will she be the First Bitch or will she have to settle for second place? Get it? Because "bitch" had two meanings! Ah, Christian-sponsored humor. That's not just funny. That's Jesus funny. Weird that Burt Prelutsky doesn't work more. Because that "take my wife... please" bit is also pure dynamite. Must be ageism. Naturally, the left-wing media is now trying to convince us that this James Brown-look-alike has all the allure, glamour and fashion sense of Jackie Kennedy. She's not pretty, for heaven's sakes! She's black! She's a black bitch! You can read the rest at Townhall.

This article by this man Burt Prelutsky absolutely disgusts me. This man's words of hatred being tied with his belief in Jesus is sheer blasphemy in my eyes. And I agree with Ajabu, that racism IS NOT a joke, or any discrimination, in any way. It is these people which place a bad name on the belief in Jesus. Here in the states, the view of Jesus and the powerful meaning of his love has become more and more distorted through the self-righteous and aggressive exhortations of of some people who are not genuinely Christians. I've seen many people who become resentful at Christians and drawn away from the sacredness of Jesus because they feel violated by the "conservative Christians". It just sickens me, but I'm also very grateful that this great man Ajabu stands prominently to defend the truth and dispel the hate and deception with love.
Rev. Ajabu,
As I don't read or watch the right wing pundits, I am shocked at this language that is directed at the First Lady.
When Barbara Bush, (Bar), the wife of George Sr. and the mother of George Jr. visited Indianapolis several years ago, she was quoted as saying; "If anyone messes with my husband or sons they will be killed".
Many of us had been busy messing with this crime family for years and I could not believe that a sitting president's mother would be so hateful as to say such a thing.
I was led to believe that we lived in an open democratic society and that an evolving tolerance was the reason our nation had become a nation of dreams.
Indeed, this tolerance eventually convinced President Lincoln, (through the writings and consul of Ambassador Fredrick Douglas), to outlaw slavery in "every" state of the Union.
This country of immigrants, (many by force), has become the richest nation on Earth because of the tolerance that valued brains and hard work over the privileged few "good old boys".
For this insult to be delivered from the depths of hatred for diversity that has favored European immigrants over those of Native, Asian, African or Hispanic origin is a no brainer.
The American people have spoken. Enough of the 'Good Old Boy Network" of bigots. As these crazy people get red in the face and spout the hate that is their domain, those of us that voted for "hope and change" can find some comfort that the best and brightest are the current residents of the White House.
For the haters, get real...your children are ashamed of you. You have had your day and now you are done. Love is much stronger than hate and will win in the end.
Happy Mothers Day to the First Lady and all American Mothers, even Barbara Bush.
It looks like Townhall.com deleted this one section of Burt Prelutsky's post because I found the article in question but the reference to the burning question in his circle is gone. The article remains disgusting anyways.
Amen,
Let us hope that this black woman (the president's wife) has the same effect on the Christian Conservatives as the Canaanite woman from the region of Tyer and Sidon. For the Christian Conservatives have lost the important meaning of Christ, which is love which means change.
Tony
I've always believed there is a subtle air of Jim Crow still present in the society anyway, long before the Obama's came on the scene. All Americans should show some concern, but hopefully blacks stay calm, because it's our demeanour that's being tested. In the past when we were angry or disapproved, we act out. So they did it often to push our buttons. Someone will probably say something, primarily because she's the first lady and it's disrespectful. But blacks shouldn't act the way they're probably hoping for. It's time for us to start trash talking and finding dirt on them also, since most of them has shown to have real dirty ungodly pasts.
Peace
Mr. Prelutsky's hurtful words are nothing but the last gasps of a movement that finds itself overwhelming rejected by the American people.
On November 4th, 2008 we rejected hate for hope, torture for tolerance, and thank God, Bush for Barack. Unfortunately for Mr. Prelutsky and his ilk, they "didn't get the memo" as they say.
Oddly enough, this type of behavior on the part of the reactionary right actually serves to marginalize them even further.
Fox News, Townhall.com and the rest of the right wing propaganda machine have now badly overplayed their hand. The paltry attendance at the widely promoted "tea party" exemplifies this.
Mainstream America, briefly glancing at the nutty participants, thought to themselves: this is the average Fox News viewer? And they have concluded that they want nothing of it.
When it gets down to it, politics is the art of making your opponent pay the highest price possible for their decisions. Kudos to you, The Huffington Post and others for their part in ensuring that "Christians" such as Burt Prelutsky continue to pay this price.
I think that the way that some people have treated Michelle Obama has been disgusting. Those people are racists. They are clearly not Christians. Nor are they people I would speak with, let alone worship with.
I would like everyone who reads this nonsense to google "Barbara Bush Bitch" to see that MANY people on the left HAVE called Barbara Bush a bitch.
This blog is ignorant hypocrisy.
Rick Warren, Billy Graham, James Dobson.
Mitch Daniels, Mike Pence, Steve Buyer.
Christian Conservatives.
And yes. I am PROUD to associate myself with these great men.
John Maxwell, Robert Schuller, Joel Osteen,Tony Dungy, George Will.
Do I really have to go on with this list?
By the way. WHO is Burt Prelutsky.
I have NEVER heard of him.
http://my.opera.com/conservativeminority/blog/index.dml/tag/Burt%20Prelutsky
I dare say that this is the opinion of 99% of white evangelicals in any church I have attended.
The End.
Ajabu, If you are REALLY wanting to end the hate, you MUST STOP taking the words of the few and attributing them to the many. It is wrong. It is misleading. It is terribly unChristian.
I am happy to disassociate myself with Burt Prelutzky....who I have NEVER HEARD OF. He's a jerk. He's not a Christian.
I'll pray for him while I pray for John Marshall. They are brethren in spirit.

Here's a fair deal. You don't equate conservative Christians to this creep and I won't equate you with Al Franken. Seems fair to me.
Dawn,
I googled Barbara Bush and the "B" word. Yes, I did that. I looked at several of the articles. Not one of the articles, that I could tell, was on a website that said it was Christian. This is the point that is being made. I am looking at members of this group that you associate with. I am not looking at all people who use this language as having the same positions as these people. There are some big names associated with this website. Bill O'Riley, Bill Bennett, Thomas Sowell, Larry Eyler, and the list goes on. I am not looking at them, I am looking at you.
You still fail, in my opinion, to look at yourself. You fail to see yourself as other see you. Look at the posts, by new people I might add, concerning how they see so-called "Christian" conservatives. They probably don't know you, but they do have an opinion about the group to which you identify. Because you identify with this group it cause people to look at you in a certain light. Is it that painful to make an effort to see how people see you?
The question is not whether you have time for me. I am in your life by choice. The question is do you have time for you. You can't run from you. You are in your life by design, not by choice. God designed it so that you have to live with you, not me. If you choose not to have time for you then your choice will have precarious mental health implications. My sister, I don't worry about your relationship with me. There is really no consequence one way or the other if we react, or don't react to one another. I am concerned about your relationship with you. Know thyself, my sister. Know thyself.
Ajabu,
I know very well who I am.
And I like who I am very much. Broken and in Christ.
More importantly, Jesus loves me as well.
I'm sure he loves you, too. But I think he must be shaking his head trying to figure out why you continuously try to pick a fight with someone who so clearly loves him.
Or why you want to fight with people who are doing so much work on his behalf.
I have been trying to get you to open your mind and to stop being such a political bigot. But it isn't going to happen through your relationship with me. I don't know how many times God is going to have to slam you up against the wall until you stop hurting yourself with your own narrow worldview. He's certainly done it a few times, you cannot deny. That's how he works with those who refuse to be broken. You keep getting closer. But you still live in hate and not in love.
Apparently, you're not there yet. I've had my own unproductive battles that have led me to a closer relationship with my Lord. You've come a long way, but you have a way to go.
One of these days, you will see the heart of the true believer whether they are conservative or liberal. Conservative or Liberal describe a nature. Not a political philosophy. And until you can see that God created people who live in his Grace who represent both natures, you will be tilting at windmills.
You came late to faith. You're seeking. I believe you will find Him.
Dawn,
There you go again. You have put yourself in God's position. You don't know how God sees or will use a person. You see you, but you won't deal with how peopl see you. That is unfortunate.
I just read Prelutsky's latest article. He admits that he is not a Christian. His work is just carried on a website supposedly owned by Christians. Hummm. Now that is interesting. He does admit that he is a Conservative. The fine people that you listed as being conservative should roundly denounce him, in my opinion. You also asked who he is. His bio follows:
Burt Prelutsky's Biography
Burt Prelutsky, a very nice person once you get to know him, has been a humor columnist for the L.A. Times and a movie critic for Los Angeles magazine. As a freelancer, he has written for the New York Times, TV Guide, Modern Maturity, Emmy, Holiday, American Film, and Sports Illustrated.
He is the author of "The Secret of Their Success: Interviews with Legends and Luminaries."
For television, he has written for Dragnet, McMillan & Wife, MASH, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Bob Newhart, Family Ties, Dr. Quinn and Diagnosis Murder. In addition, he has written a batch of terrific TV movies. Talk about being well-rounded, he plays tennis and poker... and rarely cheats at either.
He lives in the San Fernando Valley, where he takes his marching orders from a wife named Yvonne and a dog named Duke.
I would say from his resume that he is not a nobody. He is accomplished. And he says he represents conservatives. Does he?
Ajabu,
You are really stretching this. How can you paint people with such a broad brush and call yourself a minister.
If a person who was a conservative - say, an accountant- came to you, broken and wanting saved. Would you turn your back?
My daughter's best friend is a Christian liberal. She took my daughter with her to work in New Orleans and is headed to Haiti to work in Port au Prince. She comes to us for financial support for all of her projects...and as I mentioned, she often takes my daughter with her.
My daughter is a conservative. She does not believe we can sanction gay marriage in a church. She believes that a free market is the best and most effective economic system. She believes that partial birth abortion is something our nation needs to divorce itself from.
Together, she and her friend make a "complete" team in Christ and can do his entire body of work.
The definition of conservative has been coopted by the left. On purpose. And you have fallen right into it. I'm sorry that you cannot see it.
I say repeatedly that there are good liberals and bad liberals and good conservatives and bad conservatives. Maybe someday you will get to know enough people at a deep enough level that you will be able to break free from your misguided stereotypes so that you can be a more effective resource in doing God's work.
As it stands, you are part of the hate. You are not lessening the hate.
P.S. I already did denounce Mr. Prelutzky's words. I already said that what has been said by some very unkind people on the right is wrong. You refuse to denounce people like Al Franken. You show yourself to be a hypocrite by your consistent one-sidedness.
Dawn, Dawn,
You keep assigning your's or somebody else's positions to me. I have condemned no one. And will not condemn anyone. That is God's domain. I make a conscious effort to stay in my lane. You keep wanting to look at me. When will you look at how people see you? It is not about me. It is about you see you as others see you. Tell me why should I denouce Al Franken? What identity does Al Franken and I have in common? This is a good example of you assigning your definition of me to me. I ain't who you see. Quit it!! You make yourself look to be arrogant. Is that how you want to be seen?
Ajabu,
You are the arrogant one.
You post what you post and repeatedly infer that some idiot conservative thinks like I do.
You are a fraud.
And I am done.
When you are a rational Christian, call me. We can talk.
"Why would someone want to connect themselves with the term “Christian Conservative” when people like Burt Prelutsky represents them? The nation would be in an uproar if someone had called Barbara Bush a “bitch.”
Ajabu....so we know the idiot you pulled up was NOT a Christian and that many people called Laura Bush a "Bitch". Strike One. Strike Two.
Michael Medved is a religious JEW.
Strike Three.
I gave you good examples of Christians who are conservative who happen to be people I related to.
I have told you what I identify with as a Christian. I am a person who believes that the Bible is the word of God. I am conservative with money and believe that I have stewardship responsibilities to others, which I take seriously. I believe that abortion, embryonic stem cell research and euthanasia do not value life. I believe that the constitution is our principle governing document and that free markets are the most effective means of the foundation of an economy.
I believe in borders.
I believe that stabbing full term babies in the head and sucking out their lives is decidedly unChristian.
I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.
So I don't know how you go from those things to this:
"So to synthesize these definitions I would conclude that Christian Conservatives as defined by Dennis Prager and Salem Communications is someone who is a right-winger who is reluctant to change because they feel they are chosen by Jesus the Mesiah who will be sent by God to the world to save humanity, and calling the First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, a “bitch” is an example of Jesus’ behavior and teachings which will cause Jesus to acknowledge conservatives as His chosen. Dawn you call yourself a Christian Conservative. From your writings on this blog, surely you don't agree with these Christian Conservatives, do you? Are you happy to be associated with this crowd? What scripture reference are they using? "
Strike Four. None of this is accurate.
You make things up as you see fit. Because you are unwilling to see outside of your own worldview. Bigotry. Pure and simple.
I NEVER called Michelle Obama a Bitch. I immediately said that I think that is abominable.
You really need to meet some Christian Conservatives. You have plenty in your church. Maybe you need to get out more.
http://www.conservative-resources.com/definition-of-conservative.html
And if you ever want to pursue a serious intellectual consideration of what a conservative would believe, this might be a succinct initial point of reference.
You won't give it any honest consideration. Perhaps I have given you too much credit all along.
Dawn, Dawn,
So are you telling me the definition in the Encarta World Dictionary of English is incorrect? We can make words mean what they want to mean. We can use words to mean what we want them to mean. Black people are known for doing such. If you hear a Black person say he/she is going to the "crib" that means they are going home. If you look up "crib" in the dictionary it says a crib is a baby's bed with high bars around it. So what is the definition of a crib. Is it how a lot of Blacks use it or is it what the dictionary states? The common denominator of a word in the English language is dertermined by the dictionary. If you are aware of different cultural lexicons then you can understand the word being used to mean something different. I don't define myself as a "conservative" so I don't understand how you use certain words in that community. I define myself as a Christian, pure and simple. Do I embrace some of the principles that you say are conservative. The answer is absolutely yes. However, I put emphasis on some. Did I say you called Michelle Obama the "B" word? Absolutely not. My question to you was do you feel comfortable associating yourself with people a man who defines himself as a conservative who would call the First Lady of the United States of America a "B"? You said no. I accept you at your word. I am not in that so-called conservative community. You are. I wanted to be clear on your position.
You called me a bigot. The dictionary defines a bigot as a person as an intolerant believer in a religion. This could not be further from the truth. I have friends that are muslim, Jews, Bahai, and yes, I even consider some people who say they are conservatives as my friend. If anyone is intolerant it is you. You know how a person is supposed to act if they are a Christian. If the person does not act or say what you want them to say then, to you, they not close to God. Dawn that is your perspective. You are intolerant of other perspectives. That is bigotry. Watch this now as i interact with your following words:
I believe in borders. (I believe in treating people humanely whether they are legal or illegal residents of this country)
I believe that stabbing full term babies in the head and sucking out their lives is decidedly unChristian. (I belive that killing people before they are born, or after they are born is against what God would have us to do unless it is done in self defense. Did not God give Moses the commandment that Thy shalt not kill? Does that not include the born as well as the unborn? It is amazing how people who call themselves conservative will be against abortion but not want to take care of the child after birth. It just seems a little hypocritical to me. How does that look to you?)
I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. (Me too. But I am not going to get bent out of shape if people of the same sex say they are married. I am not going to judge that. I don't support it, but I refuse to judge. Judging is God's domain. I intentionally stay out of God's domain. To do so is to place one equal with God. I am afraid to do that.)
The bottom line is even where I agree with some principles held by people who call themselves conservative, most times I differ with them on how to handle or respond to the situation. Dawn, I have not called you anything other than arrogant. I call you that because, in the pew in which I sit that how you come off. All that other stuff that you atribute to me is a figment of your imagination. I don't know you. But from the way you carry yourself on this website you come off to me as being a bit arrogant. Surely, I am entitled to my opinion. Whether I am entitled or not, it is still my opinion. They only thing that will make me change my opinion will be that you carry yourself differently. God bless. God loves you, and I am trying.
Ajabu,
I'm glad you're willing to take these people on; they are so ignorant, mean-spirited, and racist that I can't abide listening to their frothing at the mouth. Keep up the good work, brother.
Janet
OK. Now we are getting somewhere.
Partial definition of bigot:
"Bigot is often used as a pejorative term to describe a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices"
So why do I define you as a bigot? You are obstinately devoted to the idea that a conservative is a person who meets a stereotypical category defined by your worldview. You think that a white educated person who is not a liberal democrat fits neatly into a box you have sealed up and filed on a shelf. We don't care about children. We hold secret racist beliefs. We have a superiority complex. We are arrogant. Blah blah blah. That is bigotry.
"It is amazing how people who call themselves conservative will be against abortion but not want to take care of the child after birth. It just seems a little hypocritical to me. How does that look to you?)"
Really? If it were TRUE, I would say you are right. But you know that I work directly with Jireh ministries. You know that my family chooses to give away their Christmas. I work with the Special Olympics. I have an appt. to go work with LuWanna on Thursday to work at Horizon House. I teach a youth Bible Study group. My kids tutor. I am also a mother of a daughter in crisis. It is more than a little time consuming. I have always been team mom, pinch-hit babysitter....whatever. I am paying for a friend of my daughter to go to college because his family cannot afford it. My daughter's best friend is poor as a church mouse but has a heart for ministry so I fund her. I'm happy to go up against you head to head on this one, Ajabu. If anything, I have a serious "Martha" complex. My kids want me to slow down and just "be". The Mary Martha story has always been a thorn in my side as Paul's life as an observant legalistic Jew was a thorn in his. I have told you I KNOW my "sins of the flesh". Trying to be Martha is one of them. And it makes me irritable because even though I am VERY active, people like you, who couldn't keep up if you tried will pick at me. I am very achievement oriented and don't want anyone to think I "should have done more". So I kill myself trying and it makes me uncivil because people like you continue to "pick"....which is YOUR sin of the flesh.
Regardless, how does ANY of that make partial birth abortion OK. I think that you can argue about the viability issue of a fetus and a mother's right to choose. But once that baby is full term...the argument is over...and only the most RADICAL person would say that a late term abortion is OK...unless the mother's life is in jeopardy. Yet Barack Obama DOES support the mother's right to choose at any time and for any reason. I believe that this level of inhumanity is so significant....like Nazi genocide....as to define a culture.
President Obama also believes that women who are minors should have the "right" to choose without the advice and counsel of a parent. He consistenly votes against parental rights. He stood in front of Planned Parenthood and said that he will pass the Freedom of Choice Act. The freedom of choice act takes away all parental notification laws. There are parents who are not of wise counsel to their children. But in the vast majority of cases, mothers and fathers are there for their children. I look at Sarah Palin in this case and say to myself (mind you I thought that Sarah Palin was a TERRIBLE VP choice) the woman stands by her convictions for life. She is a case study. She is standing by her young mother daughter. She is raising her own special needs child. And many people just ridicule her and they make horrible jokes and snide remarks about her unwed daughter. I think that is horrible. Sarh Palin's family is doing what they SHOULD do. She is not ready to be a President, but she has a great family. They all pitch in together and support one another as a family. Some people made jokes about Sarah Palin for her belief that abstinence is the best choice for teens. Well, OBVIOUSLY it WAS the best choice. The young man is pretty much out of the picture and fancy free and Bristol has a baby to raise. Bristol Palin needs to be the example to young women about how that IS the way it often works. Premarital sex is a problem not because it is so BAD, but because natural law leaves you with really difficult consequences (see the definition of conservatives believing in natural law). You talk about not caring about the children but liberals also tend to act like teen sex is unavoidable. Well it ISN'T unavoidable. We have just objectified sex and women so much in this culture of porn that our kids are really a wreck from it all. Many liberals will not make any attempt to address pornography. It is now so pervasive that any kid with internet access has seen the most despicable images conceivable. Their music lyrics are just as bad. They are scarred by it. The people producing it are buying and selling young girls all over the world and degrading them. But we protect these people with free speech rights. We do need to protect speech. Certainly political speech, religious speech, etc. Pornography is NOT speech. It is a hate crime.
I don't believe in treating people civilly who are in this country illegally? Then why do I work at a Bible school for Mexican children in the summer and supply all their food needs? Why do my children volunteer with me and use their Spanish skills? Why does my husband essentially donate 20% of his care to people who come to the hospital with fake IDS who he knows will not pay him? He does not have to work there. A radiologist can work anywhere. He CHOOSES to work in Anderson, Indiana. Again. You have no idea what you are talking about. But you "know". You do not "know". I feel the burden of PROVIDING for these kids. Personally. And the country is breaking from the burden. And our own low income people in this country are seeing their wages fall as they try to compete against people who will work for next to nothing without benefits. I have said it before. I have watched good skilled-trades jobs become entry level and impossible to find because the market for trade-skilled labor is flooded by uncontrolled borders.
But I believe that there is a desire among many democrats to flood the country will illegals, buy their loyalty and make them democrat voters. Even if it destroys our hospitals and schools in the meantime because we aren't funding our hospitals and schools enough to begin with. So what? They will be democrats because the democrats fought for their citizenship. It will permanently empower liberals who seek power...the Nancy Pelosi's of the world. Those wonderful thoughtful democrats who promise things they cannot pay for. It does not make you good to take from someone else to buy yourself a position.
I heard a heartwarming story today about Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Apparently the last living person from the Titanic is very elderly and struggling financiall. The actors, who made a fortune from The Titanic have taken it upon themselves to assume her financial obligations. THAT is giving. Going to Congress to ask the public to pay her bills is not giving. Paying them is giving.
I am not bent out of shape about homosexuals. Their sins of the flesh are theirs to deal with. I believe that their sins of the flesh give them pain and it makes me very sad. I do not believe that a civil society should discriminate against them. I believe that property rights and civil rights should be the same for any kind of couple that chooses to live as a family. I do NOT believe that we should sanction marriages in churches before God. God does not want us to sanction our sins before him as "holy". I do not want my sharp tongue sanctioned before God in a church. I don't want to have any of my sins sanctioned in a church before God. And unfortunately, although many gay people would be happy with civil recognition of their unions and human respect from society, SOME gay people hate God for defining this sin... which is such a difficult for them to be burdened with, as an abomination, not to be sanctioned by Him. There is a group of gay people who have become very hostile to the church as a result. They have sued churches. They will not be happy until the Church suffers. There was a church in California that was sued by a female couple who wanted to use their facility for a union. The church did not want to sanction a gay union on their property. That is just wrong. A compromise has to be met, but there are people on both sides who will not allow any lines to be drawn. There are lines that must be drawn. We need to love the homosexual community. God does not rank order sin. Their sins are not better or wose than my own. I have a harsh tongue. That is a sin. It is something that I work on (believe it or not).
God has done work on me through my daughter who has a very different spirit than my spirit. Through her illness and effective Christian counseling, I have learned a lot. I have come to understand that God needs her nature for her purpose. He needs my nature for my purpose.
I realize that God needs the liberal heart. He also needs the pragmatic, budget-mindful conservative.
I believe that the United States needed a Barack Obama at these times. We needed, first of all, a strong, intelligent Black man to restore the belief in this country that anyone can live responsibly and rise to any level in this country. He has a wonderful family. He has a world perspective that is, I believe, very global, which I believe we also need. I believe that he is making a difference in the worldview of others about the United States being a global neighbor. I also think that we have issues to be addressed in healthcare and education that he will work on. Today I saw on the the news that he is trying to get all parties in healthcare together to reduce costs by 1.5% a year. That's a good start. And then some kind of systematic reform needs to be put in place. But anyone who does not go into this with their eyes open is stupid. We have a large shortage of providers. We have a limited budget. We will not be able to spread unlimited care to anyone, legal or not. But we need to work on the issue. The costs are too high. There is too much money being made by people who do not contribute to the care of the patient. There is too much replication of facilities and equipment. There is too much money being spent unfruitfully.
So...although I think that President Obama has a calling as our President for these times, I believe that we need a Congress that is fiscally responsible. I do not believe that they are. I believe that capitalism and free markets are very important because it is the only rational way to incent production. (I would love it if you would read a book called Atlas Shrugged which defines this philosophy well). I do agree that government has a role....not in hiring and firing company Presidents, that was WAY outside the role of government, but in shaping the economy. For example. I thought that the 8500 tax credit for first time home buyers was a very good way to stimulate the real estate market. And the supply of homes on the market has reduced significantly. I would have gone further. I would have extended that tax credit to ANY buyer and it would have moved the market faster. My daughter is in college. I would have bought her a condo for her to live in because she intends to live in this area throughout undergraduate school and graduate school. Rather than paying rent to an apartment, a condo would have been a way for us to have built some equity for her. But a liberal would have said that would have been an unfair passage of wealth to our children. Mind you, my daughter has a significant mental health issue and putting some security under her would have been a benefit to society at large. But to many liberals, the fact that the result is good would not outweigh the fact that it would be unfair for the doctor's kid to have a safety net....even though she needs it, and it will keep her from becoming a societal burden if she relapses in the future.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion that I am arrogant. The truth is, I have a very "spreadsheet oriented mind", I am highly competent and effective. I am not soft. I get a lot done. That HAS given me a sense of pride. Pride is a sin. I acknowledge that.
When YOU acknowledge that you continue to carry a heart that categorizes people (bigotry) into pigeon holes to fit your world view, which is distorted by your experience, we will be getting somewhere.
I have said repeatedly the world needs BOTH the liberal and the conservative perspective. But it needs people of those perspectives to value the perspectives and use them. Conservatives are not harsh and uncaring. They are to be stewards and doers. Liberals are not lazy or slackers. They can be visionaries and nurturers.
God is not punishing white conservatives with Barack Obama as President. This is not devine intervention to beat down the European. He is using the political ebb and flow of politics and diversity of human thought to create a world that fluxes back and forth to meet all the needs. Amazing how he does that.
Janet,
Ignorant, mean-spirited, racist and frothing at the mouth.
Glad to see you are so open-minded.
Rev. Ajabu,
That Disgusted conservative Christian really has nothing else to do but to poorly attempt to counteract you. It is so unfortunate when people cannot see the log in their own eye while they are trying to take the splinter out of yours, or so the scriptures teach. Such people all too often engage in the type of condemnation that is not reflective of the tenants of the true faith in Jesus the Christ. Just you continue to point out the errors of the ways of all those situations and people as you may justly be inspired so to do. That may be the calling that has been granted you; so be true to it. Thank you for the concept that you conveyed, inasmuch as I believe it was and is indeed productive, thought-provoking, and cogent. Be not dissuaded.
Oh, and Ajabu, you are also very dismissive with your constant, "Dawn, Dawn" comments.
Really. Is that the way you believe you should treat people? Do you really only want to talk to people who agree with you? I thought you were about increasing the love and decreasing the hate. Hmmm. Maybe not so much.
Speaking Truth to Power? Your Truth? It looks more like professing YOUR worldview to people who think just like you do.
