Republican Budget & Rick Wagoner’s Resignation

Republican Budget & Rick Wagoner’s Resignation

Can you believe it? The republican leadership of the United States legislature has been criticizing President Obama’s budget. President Obama challenged the Republicans to come up with their own budget. I think this is a legitimate challenge. Surely if the Republicans have a beef with how to bring the economy back around that they would have a budget to give to the American people that would depict their plan. The budget that they presented had not one specific number in it. The budget just called for more tax cuts for the rich. Before I go on, let me be clear as I have previously. I am not a democrat, nor am I a republican. I am a Christian, trying to do what’s right. What I am saying is not party based. I am looking at this situation using logic and good cognition. That being said let’s dive in head first.

Party politics is killing the nation. Right now it is the republicans that are playing party politics. They are opposing President Obama because he is a democrat. If the opposition was anything else then they wouldn’t have insulted the American people by offering a budget with no specifics. Wait a minute, this is where my non-partisanship shows; Evan Bayh, has organized some democrats and they also are opposing the President. President Lincoln warned the South in his Inaugural Address: "In your hands, my dis-satisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The government will not assail you.... You have no oath registered in Heaven to destroy the government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect and defend it." Senator Boehner, we are not close to civil war, but we are close to the country’s fiscal collapse. As President Lincoln advised the South I advise you, President Obama is not assaulting you. You have no oath from heaven to destroy the government. The President has taken a solemn oath to preserve, protect and defend this country. Quit competing and start cooperating.

President Lincoln went on to say: "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume V, "Letter to Horace Greeley" (August 22, 1862), p. 388. These words, in my opinion, make Lincoln a racist just as much as many people in the south were at that time. However, he was willing to forego his personal proclivities in order to preserve the Union. Senator Bayh, I don’t know what you call yourself doing, but your efforts to organize other democrats against the President are not an effort to preserve the Union. As President Lincoln was willing to subvert his personal racist views in order to preserve the Union, you should follow Lincoln’s example. I am not calling Senator Bayh a racist, but since he is a democrat, his opposition has got to be something other than partisanship.

In my humble opinion, President Obama is being very pragmatic in his plan to resurrect this country’s economy. Just today, The Obama administration asked General Motors Chief Rick Wagoner, 56, to leave the company and he agreed. The point that the President is making is to not give stimulus money to the person responsible for putting the company in the shape that it now needs a government bailout. Wagoner’s plan to put the company back together was to get concessions from labor unions in 2007, including cutting wages in half for new hires and offloading retiree health care to a union-run trust by 2010. In other words, he jumped on the little people. Wagoner took the little people’s money so the fat cats could get fatter while his decisions where responsible for driving the company into fiscal destruction. President Lincoln also spoke on capitol and labor. He said: "Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration." Lincoln's First Annual Message to Congress, December 3, 1861. According to Lincoln, Wagoner would have been more pragmatic if he supported labor instead of trying to suppress it.

This economy must be built from the ground up. Fat cats are going to be required to shoulder more weight than the little people. “Much is required from those who much is given; and much more is required from those who much more is given” (Luke 12:48). It is time for all within the country to start pushing the same way. The preservation of the Union requires that we support President Obama’s leadership. It is what God would have us to do. Unifying helps to decrease the hate and increase the love. Thank you for listening to AjabuSpeaks.

The country was built on party politics. That is the basis of our Democracy. What is wrong with political parties debating and the people voting for the party that best fits their needs.

I think you need to examine your position on political parties. All Americans have to do is vote the party into power that is raising all boats. If we didn't have the political parties, what do you think we would have in the greatest Democracy on earth.

We had Bush and his Republican idiots and the people voted them out. Thank God!!!

This Democracy works and it takes political parties to make it work.

You know you are a closet Deomocrat, Rev

Marshall:

Party politics are killing America. It is understandable to support parties before the election. However, after the election, party interest must be put aside and country's interest must be the goal of all parties. People take party interests to far. That is why I say party politics is killing America.

When the Republicans were in control the Democrats took their abuses from them like good citizens of America. But as soon as the Democrats took over, the Republicans circled their wagons and voted in lock step against everything Obama puts forward. There must be one thing that they could agree with the president on. The Democrats did vote with the Republicans on certain Bills that Bush proposed. That's why some Democrats got in trouble for voting to go to Iraq.

It is not party politics that is the problem, it is the Republican Party that does not want to accept the will of the people who voted for the Democrats this time. You are right, once the election is over the loser has to think of what is best for the country and not vote "no" on everything just because the Democrats introduced the idea. They are behaving like sore losers and they would rather bring the house down than allow our Democracy to work.
Again, it is not party politics it is a stubborn bunch of Republicans who cannot believe that the American people have kicked them to the curb. When they were in control and Bush wash running America into the toilet, we shook our heads and waited on the American people to vote those idiots out.

I agree with Nancy Pelosi and the strong leaders of the Democratic Party, do not spend another minute trying to get Republicans to come aboard, let them stay out there isolated and in the wilderness. We don't have to have bipartisanship if we have to adopt those idiotic ideas of the Republicans. The country is watching their behavior and it will cost them down the road when election time comes again. When Barack turns the economy around, the Republicans will not be in control for another century.

A case in point is the stupid move by Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin, Haley Barber, and that idiot who is governor of South Carolina, all of them refused to take millions of dollars of "stimulus" money for needed services in their states and their own people made them take it. This is the type of behavior that would make you say that party politics is bad but it is the people of a particular party that gives the system a bad name. The answer is to expose them for their divisive and destructive behavior and help remove them from office.

It is the Republicans who, like Rush Limbaugh, would like to see Obama fail. That is what I mean by Republicans who would rather see America go down than for the Democrats to save this country. That is not party politics, that is a loser who wants to kill of the winners and take their own asses down with them.

John,

I agree with your analysis. Your analysis is what I call party politics.

Rev. Ajabu-

Like most politicians John Marshall has his head firmly implanted in his ass-cheeks by demonstrating his blind loyalty to the liberal elitists, refuses to use ANY actual FACTS he can PROVE are true, and basically hates white people who don't agree with him, and any Black person who is a conservative. John youre a ignorant BLOWHARD.

If from today's TEA PARTY's you can't understand that the anger is far BEYOND PARTY POLITICS, both of YOU are completely CLUELESS. This isn't the "RICH" that are angry-- it's those of us who work, pay our bills on time, don't spend money beyond our means- WHO ARE TIRED OF BAILING OUT THOSE of YOU who DO NOT WORK, Don't Pay your Bills on Time, and WHILE ON WELFARE STILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO HAVE A SATELLITE DISH, BUY your Smokes, AND GET PREGNANT AGAIN, wearing the latest $150 shoes FROM NIKE, while stretched out on the couch watching cartoons.

The outrage against gov't spending, corrupt politicians, and SPENDING OUR CHILDREN"S Money Began long before January 20th.

STOP SPREADING MINE and MY Children's WEALTH- and SPREAD MY WORK ETHIC for a change!!

I find it SHOCKING that the 2 of YOU who I assume have SOME DEGREE OF EDUCATION - do NOT understand the ramifications of the GOVERNMENT simply PRINTING 13 TRILLION DOLLARS in 8 MONTHS out of thin air!!!!

When you see that in the year 2010-- When THE U. S. Dollar MUST BE DEVALUED against other world Currencies- and the IMPACT IT WILL HAVE on the "POOR" in this country--- You'll both be LATE FOR THE PITY PARTY.

John Marshall- Take that message to the NAACP, Moveon.org, and your fellow ignorants at MSNBC anc CNN.

Jayson,
I stop in here about every two weeks to see what kind of nonsense is being espoused by the people who think you can borrow (from the Chinese) your way into prosperity...and talk "sense" to terrorists. But like you, I work too hard to spend much time here.
Clearly, John Marshall must be the most unsuccessful doctor in America that he has time to spend here spouting his nastiness...and obviously to eat. My husband, a doctor in a poor town, who gives away half of his care, doesn't have that kind of time.

Today's tea parties are just a start to a new party. We don't identify with Bush Republicanism. We're tired of the lazy, lucky sperm elite and the well-connected Wall Streeters who were given a pass to steal by people like Franklin Raines and Barney Frank....the pastors who sit around and bemoan the rich on their blogs and somehow call it serving the poor, and the doctors who wonder why people hate them when they are filled with hate.

The day is coming when the hardworking affluent walk away...taking the genuinely needy with them....and the rest of you will all be left asking, "Who is John Galt." Maybe then you will learn what it means to work for a living. Because the hardest working people in this country will not be there to steal from....other than Oprah.

You can keep your pasty faced Ivy League pointy heads and pandering media, your lucky sperm liberals, your hip hoppers and gangsters, your radical gays, your Hollywood druggies and drunks, and abortionists and other sordid leeches...who you LOVE to defend while you decry conservative people who pay taxes and give the highest amount of money to the poor...and see what you can make of it. The small business owners, religious conservatives, professionals and hard workers are sick of supporting you. Particularly with your seething disrespect. Frankly, you are like spoiled children and the day is coming when your parents are going to cut you loose to let you figure it out. And Reverend, God will be smiling. Because even God disavows freeloading.

Jayson and Disgusted Conservative Christian

Welcome back fellows! I take it that the freeloaders and lazy individuals you are referring to are Black welfare recipients, gangsters and people lying around watching cartoons all day.

Both of you do know that Whites receive more welfare than any other ethnic group. There are a lot of trailer parks in America.

I saw thousands of Blacks and Whites trying to get a job where there were less than 50 jobs available. American people of any color or race, want to work. Why are so many out of work. Your goody Conservative Republican Chistians voted twice for the dumbest and most arrogant president in our history, George Bush. We had jobs under Clinton, 22 million; so that meant less people lying around idle. As soon as Bush took over we had record unemployment and the Clinton surplus evaporated. This idiot started two wars and cut taxes on the richest Americans. He dug such a deep hole of debt and decline of the United States economy. He was borrowing from Commununist countries to pay for the war and the other bills. You conservatives can scream about Obama and what he is doing to America but you refuse to admit that Bush ran this country into the toilet.

You are too late with the tea bags because Bush ran up the deficit, he tried to cut taxes but it wrecked the economy, he tried to gamble on our social security in the stock market, [you see what would have happened to our social security], he lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, he is the one who was spending our children's money with his idiotic fiscal policies, and much more. Your tea bag party looks stupid and too late because the protest should have been against the Bush administration.

Christian Conservative, how long does it take to spout off nastiness on a blog? You act like I am writing a thesis paper, it is a blog. As far as being the most unsuccessful doctor in America, I'll let you feel good about that statement. Why not stick to the issues and prove to the readers that George Bush and the conservative agenda is good and everything that Barack Obama is doing is so bad. Instead of worrying about my status in America, you need to make your case for the greatness of Bush and the past eight years of conservative rule. We saw the pitiful Republican plan for the country and every major point concluded "with we need to cut taxes." How many more years of tax cuts will it take before all you conservatives realize that tax cuts do not and did not work. What is wrong with yall?

Barack Obama's policies are beginning to turn a Bush disaster into the greatest rescue effort ever and that is the rescue of a fallen nation. The stock market is climbing, the housing market looks better, some banks are looking good; all of this scares the stew out of racist confederate conservative red staters like you and Jayson. Suck it up because another Black genius has surfaced and you don't like it. Your delusional White Superiority madness is becoming a big joke and the whole world is laughing.

I had a German tell me that some Whites in America think they are superior to all people of this planet, Blacks and Whites. The election of our new president and the many other ethnic groups have dispelled the notion of White Supremacy and the fall of America by Bush has sealed the deal.

What is most laughable is the pitiful tea bag protesters today tearing down Barack Obama about raising taxes on the richest Americans. It was the poor, trailer park crowd fighting to keep the taxes of the rich down. Obama has said repeatedly that he is cutting the taxes for anyone who makes less than $250,000 a year. I saw the protesters today and some of them look like welfare recipients. The world is watching this illogical foolishness as you conservatives are going mad because the majority of Americans support the liberal Democrats and elected the first Black president.

You had your chance to rule and you were stupid enough to elect Bush and then reelected that sick cookie. Your time to rule is over and you have to go some where and sit down. You guys are so desperate that you are sending signals to the left wing extremists. In other words, if you can't be in control then just tear the country apart. What it tells me is that you are the same Confederates who wanted to secede from the great Union before the Civil War and you have never loved America in the first place

A liberal Democrat.

April 16, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterjohn marshall

Marshall,

You aren't much of a doctor, obviously. You occupy one of the most important professions in the world and all you do is occupy it. You waste a LOT of time here. And I've read enough about you by googling you to have figured out that you have wasted your Godgiven gifts and much of your medical career. You'll be called to account for that, sir. The state funded a good portion of your education. I consider your waste of talent a waste of my money.

And Jayson's right. You eat too much and exercise too little. YOu might want to change that. And then go practice medicine with fervor.

I have NEVER supported George Bush here. I was not a John McCain supporter. I did vote for Bush over the idiot Kerry. Kerry was just the kind of king of lucky sperm leftists I disdain. He was nothing other than someone who married a billionaire heiress. Useless. Never produced anything on his own in his life. So the choice was a guy who at least was committed to the unborn or a guy who sat around spending a dead conservative's money.

I have nothing against Barack Obama other than the fact that he obviously is ignorant about economic history. It is the quadrupling of the debt that is the problem. Bush left us with a trillion dollar debt (with the significant help of a willing Democrat Congress). Obama will TRIPLE that over the next 10 years. How is making a mistake 3 times WORSE the answer. PARTICULARLY when it means borrowing it from the Chinese? We are having some short term recovery, but every leading economist is saying that the enormous debt is going to cause increased taxation which will be a drag on the economy and private job creation, which will cause a deflation of wages, coupled with rampant inflation, which is the WORST possible scenario we can imagine. It was known as Stagflation during the Carter years and we coined the term "misery index" to describe the effect of our people.

You show total ignorance about taxation of the people earning over 250,000. I have no problem with returning to the Clinton tax levels. None at all. If they kept the budget under control at the Federal level, as our Governor is trying to do at the state level, with a period of higher taxes, we could dig out of this mess. But with the ridiculous spending they are planning - outside of unemployment benefits and necessary infrastructure projects - the taxes are going to trickle further and further down the ladder. Ask the people in New York and California. The spending in those states has gone so far out of control that they are planning to raise every tax they can think of to plug the holes in the state deficits. They are going to tax the snot out of everybody. Businesses are running away from those states. We MUST cut programs and we must take all the CRAP and EARMARKS OUT. We can afford to feed, clothe and educate. We can afford healthcare and Social Security. We can build roads and maintain infrastructure and defense. If it doesn't fall into those areas, it needs to be chopped. And even if it DOES fall into those areas, it needs to be looked at with a keen eye. If it's big, there's probably a LOT of waste. Our young President, who seems like a nice guy, doesn't seem to understand that every million dollars matters. During the debates he made several comments, when asked about his own earmarks, that indicated that he thinks a little padding here and there doesn't hurt anything. It DOES hurt. A million here, a million there, pretty soon you are talking about real money, as my father would say.

Adding to this firestorm, the radical environmentalists are hell bent on "Cap and Trade", which will add about $3,000 in new taxes to each and every American family - regardless of income. It is the largest new tax ever proposed. And it will affect everyone.

I'm not holding up what has recently passed as Republican as any kind of role model. But these are new times that call for a new model. What every family is doing in their own homes is what needs to be happening in government. And that is NOT what they are doing. They are behaving with total irresponsibility. And I am telling you this, sir. The 50% of Americans who are paying ALL the taxes are sick of it and are not going to just let it happen. And as the consequences that they predict to happen begin to happen....continuing unemployment and higher and higher taxes...less well-paid people will start to hear what they are saying....just as they did during the Carter years.

This is not old England, John. You don't "Rule". You govern. And this is a representative democracy. Views will be heard.
And if you won't hear them, you will be washed out in the next election, which is only a year and a half away. Bush didn't listen and he got himself and much of the Republican Congress washed out. I hope that they learned a lesson. That remains to be seen. We can either work together and make this a representative democracy or you can piss people off and be wiped out. The Democrats have a chance to become the party that "gets it". Or they can run off and grab as much as they can for their "interest groups" and be tossed out on their butts. That appears to be the path that the Democrat Congress is choosing.

Obama, I think, understands this, and is trying to figure out how to make this work. You, on the other hand, are part of his problem and will cause his demise unless you figure this out, too. This a 49/49 population right now, John. 49% believe in free market capitalism. 49% are sitting in the wagon wanting to be pulled. 2% could go either way. I know where YOU stand.

Raising taxes during a recession is like standing in a bucket and trying to pull yourself up by the handles.

And how long, sir, are you going to hang onto the racism charge? The richest American woman is a black female, who is widly popular in this country. I am ecstatic watching her build schools in Africa with her own money. She is a role model. I cheer for Tiger Woods in every tournament. He's awesome and an inspiration. He does not define himself by race. He's committed to his work. I just bought both of Tony Dungy's books for my son. Will Smith is my favorite actor. I sent money to a black conservative candidate outside of my district who was running against a liberal nepotistic ignoramous. I see a black female OB/GYN. Get over it John. Black people are beloved members of this culture. It is YOU I don't like or respect. I don't like white, whiny hangers-on, either. You're an angry black loser. Barney Frank is an angry white loser. Despite your medical degree. You do as little as possible for anyone. You just incite hatred. You have no heart for service. You just like to point fingers at others who are already contributing more than you are, and ask for more. You are no better than the robber-baron CEO's you despise so much. Pull your weight and then we'll talk.

From the NY Times today.

"The Bidens also reported donating $1,885 to charity, less than 1 percent of their earnings. In a press release, the White House said the Bidens have made additional donations to charity not listed on the returns.

“The charitable donations claimed by the Bidens on their tax returns are not the sum of their annual contributions to charity,” it said. “They donate to their church, and they contribute to their favorite causes with their time as well as their checkbooks.”

Disgusting.

Hey, Disgusted Conservative Christian-

Remember John Marshall has a different set of "rules" for people like the Bidens, Barney Frank-- they are untouchable, despite his years of sucking at the pigs teets.

Hey John - What's the difference between Bernie Madoff and Barnie Frank-- Nothing.

Hey John-

Why don't you just invite the terrorists over here, give them some money and weapons, some of your NAACP/ACLU lawyers- and a map of where all the kindergartens and nursey schools are as well if YOU"RE GONNA TELL THEM THIS!!!

What a weak sister Obama is.- embarrassing and this would only happen under Obama.

"""It's damaging because these are techniques that work, and by Obama's action today, we are telling the terrorists what they are,” the official said. We have laid it all out for our enemies. This is totally unnecessary. Publicizing the techniques does grave damage to our national security by ensuring they can never be used again even in a ticking-time- bomb scenario where thousands or even millions of American lives are at stake."

F-ing amazing our own gov't would betray us like this!!!

Yeah John, I was at the beach, and I didn't notice your fat gut there blocking the sun!

I didnt mention race in my post- unlike you John - I am not OBSESSED WITH CLASSIFYING PEOPLE BY THEIR SKIN COLOR EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY- but thanks for another illustration of what a pinhead you are.

You epitomize the "Liberal Amerca Hater"- I am embarrassed by people like you with their money-grubbing power hungry elitism.

You're a fraud, I wonder what program you got handed your MD degree with, and how many truly deserving people's resources you wasted.

But youre good entertainment !!! But your getting old with your whole racist rant and your Blind hatred of Whitey.
Youre a Joke John Marshal.

Well! Well! Well!

Jayson and the unknown Disgusted Christian Conservative, I have apparently hit some nerves to make both of you go on such disgusting personal attacks. Lets stop the name calling and hate filled language and just let facts and logic prevail on this blog. I thought Disgusted Christian was intelligent but he or she is just like Jayson. Read Jaysons statements and tell me if you are proud to be associated with such.

Disgusted Christian Coservative, do you realize that your economic experts are no match with Obama's experts. Anyone can mention what some experts have said about the economy, that doesn't mean that your economists are right and Obama's are wrong. The American people voted in Obama as president and we trust his judgment and his experts. Unlike your jack leg expertise in economics, Obama has some of the best and the signs are indicating that they are going in the right direction.

The ditch that Obama is trying to dig out of was dug by Bush and Disgusted Christian Conservatives like yourself. With the exception of Jimmy Carter, all of the Democrats from Roosevelt to Obama have made America prosperous. The Republicans have failed every time they took control from president Herbert Hoover to George Bush Jr. with the exception of Richard Nixon.

Please do not lecture me on how you and the conservatives can save the economy. Why didn't you tell Bush that. Why didn't he get a tea bag party? For eight years we Democrats had to live through the Bush nightmare. Now the Republicans in Congress have all the answers. Why didn't they tell George what to do?

Obama is a constitutional law scholar and he taught at the University of Chicago. Do you have a clue as to how prestigious the Univ of Chicago is? Like Bill Clinton, he has a brilliant lawyer wife who he can bounce ideas off. You do recall Bill and Hillary left us a surplus even though the slow thinking Republicans tried to impeach him. He still made America great even with his hands tied behind his back.

Sit back, relax because you are about to see the Black version of the Clintons. You will see the success come as well. Bush was dumb and the condition he left this nation in bears that out.

Instead of giving the Democrats a chance to save the country, you Republicans throw a tea party and some of you want to secede from the union. I have been trying to say for years that these Confederates in the red states do not like America and they are bent on her destructions.

Both of you made it clear that you hate me. You attack my noble profession, and you spend so much time worrying about my health and size. What you hate is the Liberal part. You want liberals to hide in a closet. The Liberals are in control and poor Jayson really can't handle having a "Black Liberal" running this country. I know it hurts. But be mindful we endured an extremely dumb Conservative president Bush. We feel your pain!

You can either secede from the union or you can sit your asses down and take it like men. This is how a democracy works. A political party wins and another loses. We have won and we are going to make America great again. You know the world was laughing at Bush and the Republicans.

When Bush won reelection in 2004, the London Mirror had a headline that read, " how can 56 million people be so dumb." That is what the planet thinks of Republicans. Don't attack me because I point out that you [conservativ Republicans] destroyed our great country and now that the liberal Democrats are salvaging your wreck, don't get mad. It is going to be all right. You want the Democrats to fail, like Rush Limbaugh said, but it is not going to happen.

Lets try to make this blog more respectable by remaining polite and graceful. We need to stick with the facts. For example, Bush ran America into a sewer while Barack Obama is trying to remove us from that toilet. Now you try it.

What I do or have done in my profession, my weight, my time I spend on this blog, all of that is irrelevent. It shows that both of you are running out of ideas just like your Republicans who had the nerve to give the country a budget without numbers. And all that you poor Republicans could recommend was tax cuts for the rich. [Please read what is happening to Republican Phil Gramm who works with UBS and the rich tax dodgers who have not paid taxes and Gramm may go to jail like Madoff]. Lets do some more reading so that you can stop the out of control nonsense noise. Clean up your act, there are others reading this blog.

A proud Liberal Democrat

Marshall,
Your geniuses are all tax cheats.
And isn't it amazing how you NEVER address a question?

My question is direct. How is it that quadrupling a bad debt improves the economy? It doesn't. And my point is this. NO economist thinks that quadrupling the deficit is healthy for this country. It is a power grab. Pure and simple. Not an Obama power grab. A Pelosi power grab. Hillary had to literally BEG the Chinese to float more of our bad debt. Did you know that today's teenagers will have 113,000 in new taxes just to service the interest on this debt? Not even touching the principle? That is shameless. And we adults need to stop it. Now. That's what the teaparties are about, you moron. It is shameless. We won't deal with our short-term pain. We want to pass it on.

What we need to be doing is taking in our family members who are in trouble. We need to behave like families again. And we need to stock food pantries. The government can hire people to repair infrastructure, certainly. Perhaps make some investments in transit and schools....things that will put some people back to work. But the government does not need to put itself in the position to take on these businesses.

And lo and behold, before the goverment money is even hitting the economy, we are starting to recover. Because downturns are cyclical. They start with the stock market, and employment follows. Unfortunately, if the government saddles everyone with a lot of debt, the recovery will be alot slower. You really need to start studying economics, John. This is all textbook. But a lot of debt and new corporate taxes will slow down the recovery. It won't improve it. This is all so obvious. Maybe you are just too stupid to understand it. Or maybe, too blind.

John, face it. You are in a noble profession. You are just not a noble practitioner of it. You're really not a noble person. You have spent your life harassing people who were honest about your lack of ability....because the public DEPENDS on peer review. Instead of practicing medicine, you have used your training running a bogus racist newspaper. You are not even Board certified. Even the NAACP didn't want you because you were too divisive. People who have worked for you have said that you were a hack as a journalist after they left your "newspaper". You never have been willing to do the hard work. You just want to point fingers at people for your failures....unlike all the hardworking black professionals who just don't see America the way you see it....the black professionals who are part of our society. Just like all angry liberals, you look for someone to blame. Your ideas are tired. Just like the ideas of the old Democrat leadership. Fat, bloated.

The truth is, Obama is trying to be a uniter, but that trainwreck Congress, which ran us into the trillion dollar debt now has a sympathetic President and the debt is growing every day.

It's hard to be respectful to you, John, sorry. Your assinine partisanship and loyalty to people who are crooks is disgusting. Frank, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Geithner,Biden, Daschle. What a bunch of loser crooks. I don't share those kinds of blind loyalties. Maybe because I don't wear my race like a blanket over my head like you do.

Ajabu is right. Politics is killing this country. Obama seems like a good guy, but he isn't half as powerful as those white liberals in Congress and he isn't even trying to restrain them. In fact he makes it worse by putting some of the most heinous hacks in positions in his cabinet. But what the heck, who else can he pick from? Although I know plenty of nice liberals, they are working in service jobs. Not in politics. The only liberals in politics are the radicals. The "hate America apologists, the militant environmentalists, the intellectually challenged (example: Ron Pollack, Families USA), the trial lawyers, the tax evaders and check kiters, the radical homosexuals, the lucky sperms like the Kennedys. The decent democrats are being silenced just like the conservatives. People like Evan Bayh, who is mortified by the growing debt. Even Bill Clinton has been muzzled although it is obvious that he is growing ever more uneasy. Clinton knows that we will NEVER climb out of this debt. We're going to sink the ship. Who needs pirates? All you need is Nancy Pelosi, unrestrained.

You are a blind, partisan fool, John. I am not. I see ability in Barack Obama and a genuine desire to make things better for people. But all of his support is incompetent or crooked. The best thing that could happen to him would be for the Congress to get thrown out. And it's only a year and a half away. Thankfully. Fortunately, much of the deficit spending will be reversible since it is 2 to three years out. We'll put a reasonable Congress together who will come to Obama's aid and you will end up with a Presidency that does look more like Clinton's.

We'll stop the trainwreck for you, John. We'll put some people who are responsible with a check book and who don't have some axe to grind in office...people who behave like big boys and girls, people who actually PAY their taxes... and Obama will come out smelling like a rose.

Disgusted Conservative Christian

I will not respond to your derisive personal attacks as you are in the closet because your name is not "Disgusted Conservative Christian." When you bring your ass out of hiding then I will go toe to toe with you on personal things but we don't know who you are.

Where were you the last eight years under George W Bush? Would you admit that Bill Clinton handed Bush a huge surplus. The debt worsened under your Republican Conservative Christian, George Bush. He had to borrow from the Chinese [Communists] to pay for two wars and everything else. I know you are not talking about our children being saddled with debt when it was your own conservative christian Republicans in Congress who went lock step with Bush and cut taxes while trying to fight two wars. [Illegal wars at that]

Barack Obama has economists who advise him. It is so ignorant of you to say that no economists would do what Barack is doing. What you need to do is calm down and give Obama a chance to prove that he will turn this economy around.

The American people elected Barack Obama and the liberal Democratic Congress, so don't get mad with me. Do a tea party on the majority of Americans who do not agree with the idiocy of the Republican party.

You want to call names and deride the liberal Democrats but can you imagine how you sound knowing that your party is made up of the worst LOSERS literally. Did you see their budget for America to come out of the Bush disaster. [their disastrous economy too]

Lets call the role, start with George Bush, Dick Cheney,[I guess you are very proud of this idiot] Sarah Palin, John McCain, Eric Cantor, John Boehner, Phil Gramm, Dick Army, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Cavuto. Are you not ashamed to be identified with this crowd.

Why don't you accept the fact that the American people rejected your brand of politics and politicians. You lost in November and we liberals are in control. Your greatest fear is that we will be successful. the genius of Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, Rahm Emanuel, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry [Viet Nam Vet, Cheney and Bush didn't even fight for our country], Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schwartz [all of the MSNBC analysts], John Conyers, Eric Holder, and all of the wonderful liberals who were put in office by the American people.

Please don't forget the Christian Conservatives like Ted Haggard. Are you proud of a leader of two million conservative christians who was caught with a male prostitute. I bet that Republican senator who was caught in the airport restroom is a christian conservative. Are you a member of Haggard's church and are you one of his 2 million followers? I wonder what Ted Haggard's position is on Gay Marriage?

You sound like a complete fool declaring the greatness of conservative Republicans and while you bash the liberals. I have answered your questions very directly. I repeat, Barack Obama has advisers on this economy, you just need to wait and see. What you continue to complain about is what could happen, I say sit your ass down and watch a genius at work. You and Rush Limbaugh don't want the liberal Democrats to succeed. Sorry, you and those ignorant and misled tea partiers will have to wait.

Why don't you let us know who you really are. It is so disgustingly coward of you to attack on this blog as you throw your brick and hide your ass. Have a good night coward. You have no ligitimacy while you operate as a stealth disgusted so called Christian Conservative.

You say that I am a racists but I want to reiterate that I love Bill and Hillary, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, all of the Kennedys, all of the White liberals in this great country. Again, from Roosevelt to Barack, the Democrats have had to clean up after dumb ass racists Republican Conservatives. Check the record after each of your Republican presidents, from Hoover to Reagan, Bush I and II and you will see deficits and the suffering of the ordinary Americans under their rule. All boats were lifted by presidents like Roosevelt to Barack with the exception of Jimmy Carter.

Come out from hiding because you are not a Christian, you are anything but that, if anything you are an "Anti Christ." Christ would never be a Republican Conservative. What are you conserving, the days of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, lynching, exploitation of the poor, the rising of the Confedrate South again, and the madness for keeping the wealthiest Americans from paying taxes. You need study history not give us your jack leg ecomonics.

A very proud LIBERAL Democrat

April 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterjohn marshall

See, John, the difference between you and me is this. I will NOT defend the criminals in the Republican party, nor will I ever tell you that I was a fan of George Bush. I am not blindly Republican. The Republican party happens to have a FEW great PEOPLE in it. Mike Pence and Mitch Daniels, in particular. These are men who live by their faith. Every day. I see in them, men like my husband....a man who has stood tall and lived - not a spotless life - there has only ever been one who has - but a solid life. One where he has used God's help to grow stronger in character each day. And one of the best places to judge what is really in someone's heart, is how they give PERSONALLY to others...no strings attached. The fact is, it has been quite publicly evident for a long time that most of your favorite white libs are very stingy people who have not only not given their own money, but who have also not paid their taxes. THAT is a very large measure of their character, sir. Wake up. There are some wonderful liberals who are very generous people. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie....Oprah....lots of others. Your leftist heroes repeatedly are reported as miserly. Yet somehow, you think they are servers. There was a woman here in Indy - a prosecutor. Her name was Ann Delaney. She drove me NUTS politically. But she was a wonderful woman as a person. She raised amazing kids. She worked and funded a woman's center her in Indianapolis tirelessly. She was a Catholic and she lived her faith. She was a take-no-prisoners partisan, which affected my opinion of her, but she LIVED her faith. You have to admire her for that. In the end, the sum of her life was good stuff.

The deficit that Bush created was shameful. But it was not created alone. It was supported by a Congress made up of liberal Democrats. The housing crisis was bi-partisan. The easing of loan standards, pushed by liberals, the easing of the requirements at Freddie and Fannie was pushed by liberals. The rabid corporate greed that overtook the mortgage banking industry....bipartisan. A few concerned republicans and democrats raised flags along the way, but they were shouted down. Too much money was being made.

I do happen to believe that there is a duty of the President to protect the country. It will always be a topic of debate about where and how the war on terror will need to be fought. I do not think that the Bush/Cheney unilateral cowboy approach was the right approach, but I also fear that Obama is a bit naive about his ability to change minds and hearts. I like the fact that he will be slower to attack. I pray that he does not give our enemies the impression that we are soft. It will only be in hindsight that we will be able to say if Obama's approach is the right one. I pray that it is. I do see an awful lot of saber rattling coming out of N. Korea, Venezuela, Somalia, Cuba, Russia and Iran. I hope that it is just the testing of a new President. We'll have to see. I pray for his wisdom and success. Every day.

You, on the other hand, will stand by anyone who simply wants to "take out" the other side.

A former employee of yours said that you had a win at all costs attitude. You do. And it is people like you who are damaging this country.

There is no excuse for leaving our kids in this much debt. We need to take a much harder look at that budget. We need to take a hard look at history and realize that recessions end. They end without government intervention. This happens to be a pretty deep one and we need to help the people who are being hurt by it. We need to feed, clothe, house, educate and protect our people. There are certain things that the government has done that made a lot of sense. A deep tax credit to homebuyers is starting to move homes off the market and clean up bank balance sheets. Unemployment benefits need to be paid until job creation improves....which may be a long time. I was very happy that they made COBRA insurance more affordable. I think that a lot of the big infrastructure projects are appropriately being funded by stimulus money....crumbling roads and bridges, schools, etc. If you can put people to work on things that need to be done, that are appropriate things for the government to do. That SHOULD be done. I've told you before. I don't have a problem with returning to the Clinton tax levels for the short term. But I am totally opposed to bringing back the death tax. It would kill second generation family businesses and farms. Not to mention, the only way that someone has money to pass on is that they saved it during their life. They could have spent it carelessly, but they saved it. Maybe they have a sick child they know needs the care. Maybe they were just frugal. Regardless. The money has already been taxed. It is their right to put it where they want it to go. Period.

Taxes should NOT be raised on corporations. That shows a fundamental misunderstanding about corporations. Corporations are legal entities designed to make a profit. That's it.
If you raise taxes on them, they will create equilibrium to return to profitability. They will cut jobs, reduce costs (which usually means relocating to a more cost effective labor supply) reduce quality or pass on price increases. Or they will go out of business. They do not exist as social enterprises. They exist to make money.

There are things that liberal Democrats are doing that are damaging. Bush was no better. I was raving when he did it. Massive bailouts of private companies are wrong. Companies fail. The Chapter 11 process allows them to restructure and reemerge healthier. It should not be stopped. GM should take the opportunity of legal protection to sell off pieces of the company, restructure debt, reorganize and come out a new car company. Same for Chrysler. Goldman Sachs and AIG are full of criminals. They didn't need a bailout. They needed Chapter 11 and they needed the shareholders to toss out their criminal element. It isn't for the government to decide who stays and who goes. The shareholders are responsible for that. And please don't forget that the vast majority of these bailed out CEOs were BIG contributors to the Democrat party. I won't call them Democrats. They were opportunists. They rightly knew that if they padded the pockets of liberals in power, it would pay. If it had been Republicans in power, THAT's who they would have paid off. If you refuse to believe it, look it up. It is all available on campaign finance websites.

You have shouted repeatedly that I am against Obama. I did not vote for Obama, but I am not against Obama. I happen to like the Clintons pretty much. Bill more than Hillary, but Hillary is OK. She is improving with age. If Obama would stop putting anti-faith people on faith based boards, and if he would stop supporting infanticide, I could probably really learn to like this man. He is a very measured person and we need this in times like this. He weighs every word and he is very accepting. In other words, he is nothing like YOU. I think that Obama could work very well with people like Mike Pence on the right. Unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi will not work with anyone. She is a petulant, spoiled rich, white woman, who is more concerned about the trappings of her office than her job.

One of the reasons I leave this board for long periods is that you continue to throw people like Ted Haggard up as conservatives. Ted Haggard was living a lie. He used a conservative cover to shield a morally bankrupt life. He was a gay, drug addict. As a Christian, I think he needs support and guidance to find his way to a more honest life in the light. But to say that somehow he is representative of what it means to be a conservative Christian, well, that is a LOT over the top.

As for who I am? I have said several times on this Board who I am. My name is Dawn Brockman. I am married to a doctor who practices medicine in a very depressed town although we live in a very affluent town where he could easily find a better paying job. I have three kids, one of whom has a serious uninsured illness who requires a lot of expensive and uninsured care. I am pro-choice, but strongly pro-life. Christianity is all about choices. Every day. And if you think that Christ would not call you out for your racist partisanship, John...you are wrong. I can't judge you, but I can admonish you. You have one of the hardest hearts I have EVER encountered. Perhaps something terrible happened to you along the way, but big deal. Terrible things happen to everyone. It is YOUR choice as to whether your heart turns to stone. And yours has. Give it some thought. I mean this very sincerely for your own sake.

Ms Brockman

I would like to commend you on your civil tone. I do recall you telling us your name and who you are, I forgot. This is the way I would expect a Christian to debate with me. We do not have to psychoanalyze each other just because we have different political views. It is hard enough diagnosing someone standing in front of you, so you and I know it is close to impossible to draw conclusions about someone on a blog. Lets stick with the issues and leave the personal discussions out. A former employee said something, who knows, who cares and what does it really have to do with this political debate.

Let me respond to some of your opinions. Our Democracy is based on political parties, mainly Democrats and Republicans. We have to decide which one we can identify with that meets some of our needs. So why beat your head against a wall trying to convince someone to agree with your political party.

I agree there are good and bad members of both parties. I can't judge the members of congress just because they didn't pay taxes or voted for something that I don't approve of; I have to accept them with their faults and their good side.

Stop trying to defend the Republicans and Bush when it comes to fiscal decisions because the record is there for you to clearly see that the six years of Bush and the Republican controlled congress we lost everything. We went into an illegal war, borrowed from foreign dictators to pay for them, cut taxes for the rich [including the corporations], cut services and help for the hard working Americans who can't afford health insurance but make too much to qualify for medicaid; and the Republicans were in power 2000 to 2006.

The American people, not me, gave the Democrats control of the congress. Before Democrats took over George Bush never vetoed any bills from his Republicans but he went veto happy when the Democrats became the majority. You did admit that Democrats vote with Bush and might I remind you that I do not support these Southern, racist, Confederate Red state Democrats. They are Republicans.

Now, Barack Obama comes to the presidency and he tried to recruit some Republicans and he tried to reach out. The Republican leadership circled the wagon and would not support anything Barack has proposed. They supported everything Bush offered and they remained a solid wall of support. Now they are the same solid wall against Obama.

President Obama told Republican leader, Eric Cantor, that one day he might propose one thing that Eric will agree with. Whether your Republicans agree or not, the American people have spoken and in a Democracy, the people have the power.

If the Democrats fail to turn this country around, then they will be removed. So why not calm down and deal with the fact that your party is not in control, they failed in every aspect of governance in this county and we lost the respect of the rest of the planet including our allies.

It is such an act of desperation to see Republicans criticizing every move Obama makes. Just because Bush and Laura didn't hug the queen or bow to an Arab head of state, that doesn't mean Barack can't do it. You lost the election and all you really can do is wait and see what my Democrats are going to do. It is too early to conclude; as you can see everything is turning around so far except we don't have a handle on the unemployment rate. The record is there for you to see that Democrats take care of the poor and the middle class while your party, unashamedly, panders to the richest 2% of Americans.

It has been a pleasure to see that you are sounding like a Christian and not an aggressive basher of personal things that you cannot possibly know about. Because it is sohard to really know someone's heart and any good Christian knows that God looks on the heart not man. Stick with the political debate and continue to avoid the personal attacks and the psychoanalyses, you are not God.

In closing, I am a very very ultra liberal Democrat. I have observed the Kennedys, Pelosi, most of the Black Caucus and Hispanic Caucus members, the Democratic presidents and I am very pleased with their efforts to lift all boats. Your party is so bad that I know my God would never be pleased with a party that would not make sure that 50 million of His people could get medcial care. The Obama administration and the Democrats will have to fight your Republicans to get those people covered. As a healthcare provider, I know how many we are losing because 50 million can't see a doctor or get anything but emergency care. Christ healed the sick, the blind and the lame and you don't think He is angry with rulers who are indifferent about the health of His children. As a purported Christian Conservative, please let your actions speak louder than your words and come on over to the Democratic Party and see how we try to meet the needs of ordinary Americans.

Did you ever wonder why the Democrats have the majority of Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians of America and your party doesn't? It is because the Democrats reflect the goodness and the inclusiveness of America. I have watched many of the Republican Conventions and you are a monochromatic and homogeneous clan that is everything this country does not need.

The Confederate racist Democrats in the Red States need to admit that they are Republicans too because they are blocking the progress of the people who need help. That is the Republican style and I will fight any party that deprives our ordinary citizens of a great life in this country.

john

John,
I almost did not respond to your comments because you are really so biased that I am not sure I can talk with you with any purpose.

But I will try to address your remarks.

I am a business person and a Christian. I happen to have been a very strong student in Econ and I tend to see things in the form of a balance sheet...balancing the pragmatic with my faith.

We have several problems in healthcare that will not allow us to provide quality affordable care. I speak as a person who has been married to a physician for 25 years, who is the benefits manager for a good-sized consulting firm and who previously worked for a major hospital system.

First and foremost, we have a shortage of physicians. Universal health care will require that we have 40% more primary care doctors within 10 years. We also face massive shortages in nursing and all ancillary care areas. The problem is, we don't even have enough people in the academic pipeline to train these people. So even if we make a significant effort to increase our numbers, we will not meet this need. Physicians have a particularly long pipeline. My husband's profession takes 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school and 5 years of residency. Specialization requires another 2 years. 15 years. If you start today, we won't be prepared. And people are leaving academic medicine in droves. The supply is not going to meet the demand.

Complicating this, liberals will not control our border. It doesn't matter if the numbers of patients break down our hospitals or schools, the compassion overwhelms the intellect. I understand this. My husband will never be a wealthy man because if someone has a need, we fill it. It is hard to say no, but you never have the ability to help if your pockets are empty.

We need to control our borders and increase the supply of providers or universal healthcare will break our system completely.

Secondarily, years ago, liberals decided that specialty care providers needed to have their reimbursements cut to push people into primary care. Unfortunately, modern medicine is specialty medicine. Those reimbursement cuts had a very perverse effect. What happened was that specialty doctors decided that the way that they would make up for the reimbursement cuts would be that they would build their own facilities and take a cut of the facility fee that used to be the funding for the hospitals. Now we have free-standing orthopedic, cardiac, cancer, radiology, surgery....etc., etc. centers. The result of all of that is a loss of revenue to hospitals who are now suffering, and much higher expenses overall to the patient, who ultimately paid for all the bloated facilities.

Once again, good intentions backfired....much as the good intentions to get more people into homes backfired.

The difference between you and me is this. I see liberal good intentions. Because I am liberal in terms of wanting to help others. But that help needs to be funded and if you put yourself in a position where you are overwhelmed, you help nobody.

Jesus told us that the poor will always be with us. It is our job to help where the need presents. Personally. It is not a need that Jesus passed on to a government. He passed us this responsibility PERSONALLY. If your neighbor is suffering. If you child or parent is in need, it is YOUR job to take care of it. Not Congress's.

And hence my problem with people who do not pay their taxes but who vote for them. The management of money is something that Jesus talks about a lot. We are to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. We are to give to God what is God's and we are to manage our resources responsibly. And as a nation, we are not. We need to stop acting like everyone should own a home. Everyone needs to live as they can afford. Maybe you have to live with family to live affordably. There is no shame in that. Living outside of your means is what we should discourage. We are not to covet that which our neighbor holds. It is not our concern what our neighbor has. But there is a powerful amount of coveting that is underlying our national soul. I feel it in myself when I go to a department store or walk around on car lots. So guess what. I don't do it.

My family pays nearly 40% of our income in state and federal tax and 10% of our net to charity. I don't complain about it, but I do resent people saying that it isn't enough or that we were somehow "lucky" in how we became successful. Most successful people weren't lucky. My husband comes from a family full of people who have very lower middle class incomes. He was the first person in his family to go to college and then medical school. He worked two jobs and borrowed the money and paid every penny back. He happens to be a juvenile diabetic with heart disease and celiac disease. I have always worked and I got my master's at 48. We work long hours, take good care of our kids, are active in our church, serve, PAY OUR TAXES and our tithe. Now the government says that our tithe must be taxed. That is just wrong. And for those same people to be people like Joe Biden who gave 1% of his income to charity....well, let's just say Joe Biden is no hero to me. Brad Pitt is a hero - rebuilding neighborhoods in New Orleans....Oprah is a hero, building schools in Africa. Joe Biden is a joke. Do as I say, not as I do.

Faith contributions should not be taxed. Caesar not only wants what belongs to Caesar. Now he wants what belongs to God.

So when so many politicians pass these taxes that they do not abide, I rightfully treat them with disdain. Will I willingly pay a slightly higher tax burden while our country deals with this debt? Yes. But the country needs to deal with the debt. Not compound it. I am not, because I am not the partisan that you are, going to support what Bush did to the debt. I understand why both Bush and Obama are having trouble with the budget, but it is the President's job to be responsible with the public money. I don't think either man has the fortitude to to that. My lack of support for Bush's budget is quadrupled for my feelings about the Obama budget. Obama is planning to quadruple the red ink. It has been projected that our kids will have over 110,000 in new tax liability - just to service the debt....making no progress on the principle. It is too much. And we should be ashamed. It is time to make hard choices.

One of those hard choices, in my opinion, is dealing with illegals. We need to send them home and protect our borders. We need to do it to stem the tide of drugs back and forth. We need to do it to shore up our educational system and hospitals. We need to do it to raise the income of our poorest employees. Illegals are driving down the wages of those at the bottom of our social strata. They have driven down the wages of service workers and construction workers. I worked in construction for 10 years. I saw a shocking decline in wages for skilled workers. Those were once good paying jobs. I have watched benefits and incomes and opportunity fall into the toilet. You can't really blame the employers for this. If your competitor is hiring illegals, and you are not, you are not competitive with your bids to the customer.

Does my heart bleed for illegals? Of course it does. They aren't here because they have ill intent toward our country. They are here because they are desperate. I get that. But destroying us does not help them.

Regarding the illegal war. The war was funded and approved by a Democrat Congress. That made it illegal. You can call it immoral, if you choose and frankly, I don't think either position can be proven. I believe that Bush believed that he was doing the right thing. Bill and Hillary Clinton agreed with him. In hindsight, we learned information that showed our original beliefs were not correct. But bad intelligence is not the same as a lie. Once we were there, we were there. Until the surge, we were in a cesspool. Things are improving. Ultimately, I do believe that it will have pluses and minuses. I believe that it will be to our benefit to have a democracy functioning in that region. I believe that many people have been touched by the heart of service of many of the brave soldiers serving in Iraq as we rebuild roads, schools, etc. I also believe that families of wounded Iraqis will have a terrible time forgiving their losses. It is a mixed bag.

I do think that it is time for someone like Obama to be a person to reach out with a more gentle hand and policy. I think it is time for healing and Bush's foreign policy was pretty harsh. I'm not SURE yet, that it was wrong, though. We'll see. I'm willing to give Obama a chance on foreign policy. But as I see guys like Chavez and Ortega and Castro validated in their despotism, as I see S. Korea blast off long range missiles and Ahmadinejad accelerating his nuclear program, I pray that Obama's gestures are not perceived as weakness. It is a mistake to believe that all national cultures share our beliefs and values and desire for peace. It is naive to believe that there are not nations who really will not be satisfied until Israel and its supporters are extinguished. There are some elements....and some of those elements are in positions of leadership in Iran, Syria, etc. who are not seeking peace.

You say that Republicans do not want to be part of the solution. I do not agree. But if there is no compromise, there is no point. You can't sign on to things that you just believe are wrong. That is called hypocrisy. Judd Gregg really wanted the job on Obama's cabinet until he talked to Obama about it and Obama made it really clear that he was only going to be a mouthpiece and not a contributor. You can't ask that of someone. And then Nancy Pelosi chose to hold closed door meetings. Yes, it was within her right to do that. She had the votes. But she will pay a long term political price. Because John, YOU are a partisan, but most Americans feel like Ajabu and like me. They are SICK of it. We never solve any problems. We just go back and forth between interest groups. It has got to stop. Steady Democrats know this too. People like Evan Bayh, who is trying to put together a governing body of reasonable groups of people of both party who have a desire to work together. Nancy Pelosi is your party's Tom Delay. And she's going to get bounced, just like he did. You can use your power to make the same mistakes or you can use it to make the same ol mistakes.

I agree that many partisan Republicans are really sounding foolish making a big issue about hugging the Queen or bowing to the Saudi King. But partisan Democrats are equivalently foolish. I think you sound equally foolish when you talk about "illegal wars" or southern racists. I'm sure there are southern racists, as well as norther racists. But just because someone is a Christian conservative southernor, it's a bit much to call them racists. Maybe, just maybe the actually have Biblical concerns about abortion and gay marriage. Maybe they really do have concerns about illegal immigration as their state budgets are being overwhelmed by the demands of people who really are not entitled to benefits. All of these issues are very real to people and they deserve to be heard.

I happen to believe. No, let me rephrase that. I KNOW that high taxes crush economies. The great hero of the Democrat party, John Kennedy, believed it to. He cut tax rates and the economy grew. One of the reasons we did not have a recession before the Bush recession was, whether you want to admit it or not, the Bush tax cuts. I can show you the graphs, if you would like to see them. Tax cuts encourage economic growth. But tax cuts combined with deficit spending, create a long term disaster.

I'm tired to explaining why tax increases on business are a bad idea. But it's quite clear that they are. Business taxes are a Cost of Goods Sold. Companies make a profit. Profits are the incremental difference between revenue and COGS. Corporations basically charge what it takes to make a profit. If costs rise, prices rise. If prices can't rise to offset the increas in cost, it results in one of three things...relocation for cheaper labor, job loss or closure. It's that simple. Corporations are not "social" entities. They only exist to make a profit. This is a fundamental economic fact like supply and demand. Increasing business taxes will either create inflation or job loss. It is economic suicide.

So you ask me why Jews, Blacks, Hispanics and Asians do not give their support to the Republican party? Clearly the truth is this. Most people do not want to vote for what is hard. Hispanics do not want a reasonable immigration policy. Democrats have capitalized on this and prefer to attain the votes than to do the right thing, in my opinion. And since the R/D divide is about 50/50 and Hispanics make up the fastest growing minority group, it is politically smart to pander to them. Sorry. I just call it as I see it. Lots of hispanics do vote Republican because of religious beliefs, of course, but many see the Democrats as in support of open borders and so they vote Democrat.

I believe that a lot of Black Democrats are democrats because if you are a Black Republican, you are not welcome as a member of your race. You are called Uncle Tom or otherwise persecuted. I have watched people like Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas be pilloried within their communities for having a diverse world opinion. Again. It's hard to be a Black Republican. Most people choose the easy path. It might surprise you, again, that quite a lot of Blacks are very concerned about moral positions of the left wing of their party and are beginning to identify with conservatives. Again, gay marriage and radical abortion beliefs are hot buttons for conservative blacks. I happen to have several black religious conservative friends who vote democrat with huge reservation. The Freedom of Choice Act, in particular, is problematic to them. They are also concerned about immigration. Many of those people voted for Barack because he was black and because they didn't like Bush. They didn't vote Democrat because they were liberal.

John, you can call me insensitive all you want and I will not be a liberal. Other than that I personally give my money away pretty freely. Ask my daughter, whose medical treatment for an eating disorder has cost us well over a hundred thousand dollars out of pocket. I am the first person to rip out my checkbook when I seen a need. But I will never be for open borders because they hurt our people and our systems. I will never be for weak foreign policy (although I think the Cowboy approach was equally bad). I will never be for liberalization of abortion policy or gay marriage. I will always understand that you have to have a sensitivity to debt and taxes. I have an open mind and a heart for people, but I am not the racist bigot that you think that I am.

I pray for Obama every day. But he is surrounded by some pretty lousy and highly partisan human beings who seem determined to repeat the mistakes of the partisans who came before them.

And I think you sound to be cut much of that same cloth. I think you are part of the problem and hence, part of Barack's problem.
Because to you, partisan is more important to you than right.

Well, because I WORK for a living, I'm going to leave the Board for awhile again.

Oh, and why am I bugged by what you have chosen to do with your medical career? Here's the sum and substance of it. We have a drastic shortage of physicians in this country and every person who has chosen this profession needs to be working their hardest delivering patient care. Guys like my husband are being killed by the part time practitioners. When I meet a woman who is intending to practice medicine, I ask her, "After you have your children, you do still intend to practice full-time, correct?" I believe that physicians have an obligation. If you do not intend to practice medicine, you should not have chosen that profession. Someone else could have taken that spot in your class. Someone who would be working delivering care. Someone who has medical training who uses it to be the editor of a newspaper is PERSONALLY making the decision to hurt patient care.

Lots of typos and misspellings. But I think my intent flows through.

The "Clinton Surplus"--

Another "Fairy Tale" of the Clinton years- broght to you by John Marshall, a small southern doctor just trying to do all he can by himself to save the 22 million starving people created by republicans-- oh, and 22 million somehow is EXACTLY the SAME number as the number of jobs created out of THIN AIR by our First Black President- William J. Clinton.

Love those Fact-free, Fairy-tale rants John Marshall-- once again-- YOURE A LIAR!!
