OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR OBAMA TO AMERICANS: WHAT DOES JULY 4TH REALLY MEAN?
OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR OBAMA
TO AMERICANS: WHAT DOES JULY 4TH REALLY MEAN?
At the start of this essay let me emphatically state that my candidate for President of the United States of America is Barak Obama. That being said, I have some concerns about my choice. Let me explain. The July 3, 2008 edition of the USA TODAY newspaper reports that Barack “criticized the Supreme Court for saying that child rapists cannot be executed and refused to oppose a decision knocking down a handgun ban.” The paper also reported that Barack “would vote for a bill giving immunity to telephone companies that allowed warrantless wiretapping of their customers.” Barack’s refusal to oppose a ban on handguns does not bother me because the second amendment of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution gives citizens the right to bear arms. Therefore, his refusal, in my opinion, is made on solid constitutional grounds. However, to support the death penalty for something other than murder and warrantless searches takes my candidate outside constitutional muster and causes me great concern.
At this point, let me declare that I am against the death penalty, even though I believe that there are some things that a person could do that should cause them to lose their life. Barack in essence is saying that the Supreme Court got it wrong not to allow the state to kill someone for raping a child. Truth be told, if I would catch a grown man raping my little girl then, on the spot, that grown man would quite possibly lose his life. Even though as a father I would be so outraged at catching this grown man’s behavior against my child and in the heat of the moment would take his life, however, if I did not catch the man in the act, and things died down and this man was tried and convicted I would not support the state killing him. The precedent of U.S. law is clear. The state is not allowed to give a person capital punishment if loss of life did not occur. I know you are asking why I would not support the state killing anyone, especially someone who would harm a child. I advise you to buckle up because the ride is going to get a little rough from here.
The death penalty in America seems to be a bastion where racism can kill under the color of law. To validate this statement please look at the following statistic:
"In 82% of the studies [reviewed], race of the victim was found to influence the likelihood of being charged with capital murder or receiving the death penalty, i.e., those who murdered whites were found more likely to be sentenced to death than those who murdered blacks."
- United States General Accounting Office, Death Penalty Sentencing, February 1990
When I analyze this stat I conclude that the legal system, or the state, overwhelmingly values a white life more than a Black life. If this statistic were broken down even further I bet you would find that a Black person killing a white person is more apt to get the death penalty than a white person killing a white person. Because of the death penalty’s racist application it gives me concern that Barak would support the death penalty and even more concern that he would support the death penalty for a crime that traditionally has not been death penalty eligible.
In addition to Barack’s support for the death penalty I am concerned that he would support granting immunity to phone companies who spy on their customers without a warrant. My prayer for America is that Barack would bring America back to the values the founding fathers delineated in the U.S. Constitution, specifically the Bill of Rights. The fourth amendment clearly states that a citizen should not be subject to unnecessary searches and seizures. My good brother Barack, warrantless searches are unnecessary searches and do not pass constitutional muster. The telephone companies would not have to be granted immunity if they had not broken the law!! Allowing unnecessary searches drives a stake right at the heart of what makes America the land of the free and the home of life, liberty, and the right to own land. Bush would say that my position is pre-9-11 thought. Therefore, in Bush and Cheney’s justification, because the world trade center buildings were crumbled on 9-11 they would say that warrantless searches are necessary. To search someone’s phone, home, or person without a warrant makes America not be America.
Barack, understand that these concerns are from a Black man speaking for people who supports all people being all that they are qualified to be. However, just because you are Black, eloquent, and truly the best candidate it does not mean that we will support you using the power of the President to erode America from being America. To elect a candidate who promotes the continued erosion of people’s freedoms would be a third term of Bush. Remember, it is McCain that represents a third term of Bush, not you. You said it is time for a change. Truly it is time for a change. Your campaign spoke of change. Your slogan is YES WE CAN! I like to add YES WE WILL!! But we won’t let you continue Bush’s theft of Americans’ freedoms. Policy becomes very dangerous when it begins to reflect strictly one’s own personal behavior. Policy has to take in consideration all of the people. Killing someone who rapes your daughter is personal. To let the state start killing people because someone hollered rape is going a bit too far. I say hollered rape because someone is bound to holler rape so convincingly that everyone will believe it even though no rape occurred. Innocent people are already being put on death row because they were accused of committing murder. Right there in your state of Illinois Governor George Ryan suspended the death penalty because of the high number of people on death row who were found to be innocent.
“We have now freed more people than we have put to death under our system -- 13 people have been exonerated and 12 have been put to death," Ryan told CNN. "There is a flaw in the system, without question, and it needs to be studied."
To convict someone of murder means the evidence at minimum is a dead body. To convict someone not caught in the act of rape means, at best, you might have DNA evidence. The quality of the evidence from murder to rape is a downward spiral. Policy has got to be about business. Do not mix your personals with the policy of the country. Supreme Court Justice Kennedy stated the following:
"Consistent with evolving standards of decency and the teachings of our precedents we conclude that, in determining whether the death penalty is excessive, there is a distinction between intentional first-degree murder on the one hand and nonhomicide crimes against individual persons, even including child rape, on the other. The latter crimes may be devastating in their harm, as here, but “in terms of moral depravity and of the injury to the person and to the public,” they cannot be compared to murder in their “severity and irrevocability.” (citing Coker v. Georgia)
Barack, do not go so far to the center that you become right wing. People across all ethnicities are looking to you to give America back to the people. Don’t disappoint us. If you do, then what does the 4th of July mean, really? Thank you for listening to Ajabu Speaks.

Well Well Well!!! You finally see some flaws in the "Savior" of Black people, Barack Hussein Obama. I heard you say in the past that we need to elect Barack and then hold him accountable later if he hurt Black causes. I disagreed then as I would now on several issues you are currently raising.
I agree with you on the death penalty point because of the number of innocent men who have been put to death wrongly. At least Barack did not go that far.
I wonder what was he thinking when he supported the wire tapping by phone companies along with the government? He is trying to impress the White voters in order to make it over. He will not make it with just liberals and Blacks. So, even if he makes it, can't you see that he will have to serve and cater to them in order to get anything done and to be re elected. When will he have time for Black concerns.
I tried to tell you time and time again that Barack has to abandon Black issues now and in the future. Glen Ford showed you so eloquently how Blacks will be irrelevent in an Obama administration. He can't please White people and us too. If the majority population vote Obama in as POTUS, he will serve them and not us. You are beginning to see how he will deceive anybody to get the presidency. Take for example: if Barack is doing a bait and switch on white people by pretending that he is not concerned about Black issues before getting elected, and then switch and address our concerns after he is elected, don't you see a slick deceiver; even if it is the majority that he is deceiving.
I like dealing with a person who is not so obvious with his deceptions. He is a politician and they all lie and deceive. But you guys act like Barack can't lie or deceive. He is a low and dirty politician like most of them. He is not the "Savior" of Black people or any people. He is a smooth con man who has given our people false hope.
Finally, I ask again, who is Barack Obama. I know he was a community organizer on the Southside of Chicago. What has he done that would make anybody vote for him as president?
He was over the prestigious Harvard Law Review. Can you imagine the level of deceit and the abandonment of Black issues he had to display in order to win the trust of that Harvard crowd. He is now pulling the same trick with the majority White Americans to get elected POTUS. He was a schemer then at Harvard and he is a deceiver now as a candidate for POTUS. And it is working so far. But as the old saying goes, "you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."
I endorsed Barack in my paper this month because he should be better than McCain but after seeing how he moves to the Center and maybe as you mentioned to the Right, I just don't know who this person really is. He came from Hawaii not knowing the plight of Black people in America. He has a deep abiding belief in America and the idea of freedom [so he says] but we don't know this stranger in our midst. He can go either way "Saint" or "Satan". You, Pastor, think he is moving and shaking by God's divine plan, I hope you are right. I truly think he is an evil force that will further embarrass and devastate the already beaten down Black race in America. I do pray that I am wrong.
I am glad to see some objectivity out of you and it seems Barack is opening your eyes and mind as to who he is. Lets continue to take a closer look at this young man and with God's help the truth will be revealed.
Peace
John Marshall
Bro. Ajamu; I agree with you on all counts and points....Onr uncontravertible point is that Obama is NO savior to Black Folks by any stretch--If he just does a normal job as a "moderate" president, that ought to be enough for Blacks and anyone else to effectively use the laws and regulations to ensure a modicom of fairness...a far Cry from the biggest crook in public office in history...W...just get the Supreme, Circuit, and District Court appointments right, and the Federal regulatory Commissions...and dispense with this "Homeland Security B.S. and we ought to be able to fend for ourselves from ther if we have lhalf a brain and a FEW guts...MZ
I continue to ask the question to Black America? Do we understand the political process in these United States? Do we really understand the power process of the ruling class and it's affect on the decision making process in politics? Have we studied the policy formation process and the role that it plays in the political arena? Do we understand the candidate selection process of who is selected and why? Why do we continue to play in a game that is not intended for us to participate? These are the questions I raise as I read these discussions on this blog. Do we really believe our conditon as arace of people will realy change once we have a Black man in the White house. I urge you to examine the questions above and respond to how we can develop a plan that will neutralize the special interest groups, the policy planning groups, and the candidate selection group. I will close with this question; did we (black folks) select Barack Obama to run for President? If not, then who did?
Grady
I will be the first to answer that. We did not know what this brother [Barack was up to]. When we looked up he was running for president. We first saw him in 2004 declaring then that there is only "One America."
He used Father Pfleger, the real community organizer in Chicago, and he used Jeremiah Wright in order to get Blacks to support him in becoming the Senator of Illinois.
I would venture to say he had to go with a Black wife to pull off the Senate race in Illinois. He never would have made it with a White wife. So he made it to the Senate and wasn't there but 14 months and ran for president. He is in a big hurry.
After 2004 we don't know who got with him about running for president but he went after a lot of Clinton people to work with him. It seems like there are some stealth operatives behind the scene making this thing happen for Barack.
What burned me up was his decision to challenge Hillary Clinton who has voted similarly to him in the Senate. He derailed an easier run for president because the majority of voters are White. Now he has to convince White Americans that he is not Black and they are safe with him as president.
She was leading in all polls, she had the majority of Blacks, Jews, Asians, Democrats, Hispanics, liberals and moderates. Barack decides to run and created a huge chasm and a divided Democratic Party. Even families are divided.
When he won Iowa, Black people got the go ahead from Whites who voted for Barack in an Iowa Caucus. We heard Blacks say, White people will vote for the brother. They forgot that those were Democrats and not the average working class whites. There is a big difference. They dropped the Clintons like they were hot potatoes and all of a sudden Bill Clinton was a racist. It goes to show you that Black people can burn the bridge that brought them across on the national or any level. I didn't like the way they trashed Tavist and anybody who didn't support Obama. What ignorance and utter foolishness by our people. I know the "anti Black and anti Clinton crowd are so elated and appreciative of Blacks helping to rid this land of the Clintons. We will look foolish when all of this plays out.
In spite of all that, Hillary Clinton walked away with 18 million Democrats. Do you hear me, Democrats. Now Barack is the nominee and he needs Hillary's mostly White Democrats.
So what is he doing? He is trying to become McCain and Bush all in one just to woo the White working class voters. He is now doing the Democrats like he has been doing the Black voters and that is, take them [Democrats and Blacks] for granted. He knows he will get 99% of the Black vote and because of Bush he should get a lot of Democrats too. So, he goes for the White vote unashamedly. He is a bold brass monkey. He will do anything to become POTUS.
I don't know who sent Barack but it was not Black people or Black operatives. He is a stranger in our midst and nobody has told me who is Barack Obama.
Thank you Grady for those questions.
John Marhsall
My, my, my,
The conversation is off and running. Let me first say unequivocally that Hillary lost and her husband can't run again. Their successes and failures are in the past and can't be changed. We can't forget the past but we must live in the present and plan for the future. Let's move forward.
Is Barack the Black Savior? No. Our Savior who was anything other than white, was crucified. Will Barack change the political landscape for America, especially Black people? The jury is still out. Just because Barack becomes President of the United States (POTUS) doesn't mean we specifically as Black people sit back and say we have arrived. We have a Black on the Supreme Court whose decisions are anything but progressive for the rights of people, especially Black people. Seems like Tom goes out of his way to vote in a way that is contrary to Black development. So we all know that just because a person is Black in appearance does not mean that he will not forget where he/she came from. So, when we get a Black in the white house who is running things instead of cleaning things doesn't mean it is time for us to exhale. No, no, no, no, no. When Barack gets elected that is when our job really begins.
Yes, we must elect Barack. Even though I prayed that having to elect the lessor of two evils would not be a choice in this election, Barack's recent decisions depicted above are indicating that this may not be the case. There is one thing on which history is very clear. Power corrupts. We could very well be seeing the trappings of real power beginning to corrupt our brother. Our job is to make him aware of this corruption process. We must emphatically make him aware that we see him. Just because he is Black and our man, does not mean he has a blank check to do anything and expect that we will support him no matter what. To hold elected officials accountable is really our job with any candidate, but Barack is the first candidate that Black people will be able to get close enough to able to whisper in the President's ear, brother what the hell are you doing!! Now Ms. Rice is close enough to whisper, but I don't believe she is whispering to hold Bush accountable. It looks like she is whispering boss what do you want me to do next, without any consideration of the directions being within the will of God. She is another example of just because a person is Black does not mean that we can rely on them to do the right things.
Barack has got to know that warrantless searches are not of God nor in line with the constitution. We have to loudly let him know that we are questioning the positions he is taking. He is not in the President's position, yet, to make his rumblings the policy of the nation. Our job is to keep him honest. Our job is to continue to make him aware that our eyes are on him. Barack is going to fall short. All of us fall short. But we can't support Barack falling short intentionally. Warrantless searches and killing people way after the fact for anything, whether it be child rape or murder, is not what God would have him, or us, to do. Thou shalt not kill, unless it is self defense.
Our job is to make him aware of when he falls short that he can fall so far short that God will not know him as God's child. Are y'all ready to do our job? We have a part to play in these events that are making history. God needs vessels. The harvest is plentiful, the laborers are few. Are y'all ready to reap the harvest? We must hold Barack accountable. May God continue to order our steps.
Mmoja, I too, have been disappointed in some of Barack's recent moves and I wrote about it on my blog, http://agingrace.blogspot.com/
On his web site he responded to our displeasure with the FISA bill he voted for. He said it was the best he could get. He promised to do better when he is president. And we must hold him to that.
I agree that he is definitely our best option (for the reasons you state in your column, "What Barack would like to say, but can't"), but as he has requested, we must continue to hold his feet to the fire. And I know you will. I am not about to give in to despair and write him off as just another politician who will make black folks' lives worse as one of your commenters suggested.
I lived through the period BEFORE the sixties and vividly remember what things were like. I also know how Robeson, Martin, Malcolm, and Ali were treated when they didn't stay in their "place." A lot of people died, but the almighty U.S. government with all its resources could not stop that movement, and they put a lot of effort into trying. The people the government considered public enemies then are heroes now. In the words of Bob Marley's Redemption Song, "Have no fear for atomic energy,/cause none of them can stop the time." We've reached another such historical juncture when things must change. Barack Obama is the man for this moment, but we have to continue to speak truth to power, now and after he's elected.
Pastor
You are living in a fog and a stupor if you think that Barack has to be accountable to you or any Blacks if he is elected. He cannot make it unless enough Whites vote for him. He is easing away from the liberal Democrats and is taking them for granted just as he has done Black people all along.
He has all of us where he wants us. He is the nominee and we are stuck with him. He will court the conservative working class whites by being like them. He is moving to the center.
If he is elected, he will answer to the majority who puts him in. You will have to sit your irrelevent self down and wait for the crumbs that may or may not come from an Obama administration.
You and so many of our people will hate the name Obama before this thing plays out. He is a mystery, he comes from off shore, he schemed his way in Illinois politics and after 14 months in the Senate he runs for president.
Our people are a foolish people who are so desperate for a "Savior" that they went wild for this con man. Time will prove those of us who do not trust Obama to be right. Unfortunately, Black people and the young Obama supporters will be devastated.
Please Pastor do not talk so big like you have something to do with Barack becoming president. He has 99% of Blacks who will vote for him in November. He is taking that for granted. If he wins he will not concern himself with us. He will be the Democratic Clarence Thomas.
Humble yourself as you are facing a dangerous monster of your own creation.
John Marshall
Sounds like mostly a bunch of "haters" to me!
Marshall,
Why is your position so filled with what appears to be hate? It appears that Hillary's loss really played bad on your psychology. Now you are trashing Obama because he beat that white woman. Can't you see that the masses of people, especially Black people, felt that her know quantity was worth less than Barack's unknown quantity? Holding a politician accountable is our job. That job for Hillary would be no easier than holding Barack accountable. For some reason you are wanting to hate on our brother. Why? Because of his white woman opponent? The newspaper that you publish has endorsed Barack, but it still looks like you are fighting the primary. That race is over. Speak about Barack in relationship to his duel with McCain, Mckinney, or that other fella that is running for President. You should analyze the stances of our brother. But don't keep on hating on him just because he beat your white woman. That's over. Barack is the better candidate of all the candidates out there. That does not mean he doesn't have his flaws. If he ignores Black people, which I don't believe he will, it will be no more than the other white candidates, including that white woman's husband, have done. You do remember when Bill was in office that as his first issue he chose to address the gays in the military issue over our interests as Blacks. You do remember that, don't you? Quit living in the past. We got to go forward. Come on go with me to our Father's house. Together we can win. YES WE CAN!! YES WE WILL!! May God continue to order our steps. in light of the truth, justice, and the way of the righteous.
Key word, "accountable." Yes we all fall short and are given opportunities to repent and atone for our decisions and actions. I do not agree with the death penalty for anyone, I do not agree with the privacy of home in any form being disregarded. However I also do not agree with a person having made a bad choice in speech or actions being discredited. It appears that while good solutions are being lifted up, that some are showing themselves to being more deceptive that they're calling Barack. When it appears people are laying in wait for someone to make a mistake or a conscious choice reflecting some contradiction on their core beliefs, then I question the morals of the one laying in wait. Some are seeking to make this about color as well, I notice in your statements, but never forget and always remember that it was not the deception of a black man who put the lives of over 4000 soldiers in danger for a conflict still waited to be labeled, not to mention the many suicides committed by our soldiers who were/are not psychologically capable of functioning in this war. Marshall, when I consider the character of Hillary while running against Barack, I noticed a lot of consious racial and demoralizing statements, even unto death (his),from her and Bill but during these conversations you not one time discredited her for her words or behavior. As the Pastor stated, we all have fallen short, but those of us who say we care about our nation and all people therein, have a responsibility to hold those seeking to lead us accountable to doing what is in the best interest of all. Maybe Barack got a taste of the "big-head," I don't know a man alive with power who hasn't, and if we were/are all honest we would say, "yeah that WAS me." Be assured everyone filled with pride is brought down to reality, so I choose to hold a brother accountable, while praying for God to restore him, and remain loyal; you don't drop people because you disagree with them or totally discount their speech or actions, you drop people who don't hold to the same core belief system that you live by. Remember, a divided house will fall, not a house that disagrees. We are in a fallen state, know where you live.
You know Pastor, It is a shame that so many really have no clue as to what reality is. Everything that has happened up to now was either predestined or allowed, but nonetheless all for the purpose of change. I am reading how a lot of energy is being spent on one seeking to degrade another when in essence when we take the road of discussing others from a positive or negative perspective we are simply showing who we are at heart, since most of you have placed emphasis on God and the bible, for some this will be a reality check for others a wonderful confirmation of attending to our thought processes especailly in relation to others; Proverbs 27:19 says, "As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the person," and Pro. 23:7 says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. " These scriptures plainly say that what I think about others (shows up in my speech) is who I am. So, are we really thinking about what we're thinking about others when we say we are who we say we are? I am reading a lot of derogatory and disrespectful statements and claims being made about those in leadership. Let me help you Marshall, I beseech you my brother, you have spoken as one who respects God and believes in God, so on the basis of that let me share, it is not wise to discredit the man of God, nor the leaders God raises up, see David in the books of Samuel; even though Saul turned his back on him and sought to take his life, when given the opportunity to avenge himself, David did not harm him. David's men could not understand this, however David understood the impact on his life and those connected to him that would be devastating if he in any way harmed the man God put into place, whether that man was right or wrong. David also understood that God's revenge would be worst than any he could exact upon a person, so he stayed in his place and let God be God. But he also understood God is a forgiving and not condemning God, through his experience with Uriah and Bathsheba. Well, no better way to seek to help a brother out, than through the word, because when one professes it as truth then they can not and will not dispute it. The goal is for us to know the importance of mercy and grace when a person has fallen, peace makers draw peace, peace breakers get just that, broken peace. God bless.
Pastor and Edwards
Both of you are not understanding my anger and rage with Barack Obama. It is not about the White woman because she still walked away with 18 million votes. He is up against a Republican and Barack needs this same white woman's help. You can pretend that he has this thing in the bag and the white woman is not needed by him but you had better wake up and see. Both of you are boxing me into this " hating on Obama" thing. I have stated very clearly why I resent this brother risking so much just to say we have a Black president.
Again, in politics it is a game of numbers. If White people in America outnumber Black people then Whites will get whomever they want as president. All I have been trying to show both of you is that Barack did not need to run at all because the Whites outnumber the Blacks in America.
Given that data, all the two of you can do is hope and pray that enough white people will vote for Barack. I don't like gambling with those odds just to say we have a Black president. There is too much to lose.
You beat me over the head when I mention Hillary but she is still there campaigning with Barack and he needs her. She is wealthy and Bill can raise the money to pay off her debts without the help of Barack. He needs her more than she needs him.
You threw out Bills name in a feeble effort to show us that Bill helped the gays before he helped Blacks. Do both of you recall the condition America was in when Bill took office and when he left. The 90's were the best years for the people[Black or White]. How can you stone him for 22 million jobs, his wife tried to get universal health coverage that the racist Southerners and Republicans defeated, we had no war, there was a surplus of money.
You cannot win any argument with people who can document what Clinton achieved in the 90's.
Let me conclude with this, what will you guys say if Barack is defeated in November? What will our people do beyond looking to the hills and God? The scriptures also say, our people perish for the lack of knowledge. And when a blind person leads another blind person they both fall over into the ditch.
You blind fellows need to concentrate on these White voters that you think will support Barack and not burden yourselves with my so called hatred of Barack. I hate his decision to challenge a very decent White candidate and now that he defeated her he looks lost from this point. You need to get out there and convince these racist whites in America to vote for the brother. There are not enough liberal and fair Whites to offset the massive numbers of whites who hate Black people.
I wonder what are two Black men like yourselves thinking about when you should know who you are dealing with, these people have always hated Black people and Barack cannot change that. They are so bad that they just might vote for McCain.
It was announced this week that 100 of Hillary's biggest financial contributors are backing McCain. We are talking about Democrats not Republicans. These guys are White. They were backing Hillary but instead of supporting the brother, these same Democrats are funding the Republican John McCain.
Pastor and Edwards, both of you are wasting valuable time trying to teach me about the political positions that I should take regarding Barack; instead, you guys need to hit the White neighborhoods and get out the vote for Obama.
Respectfully,
John Marshall
Marshall,
A Black man got Black and white people to support him enough to defeat a white woman for the democratic nomination for the U.S. President and you are angry. You have taken her defeat, or his victory as being a personal affront to you. Why?
You come off like you know what others don't know even though the facts say you don't know what you want people to believe you do know. The facts concerning the primary are in. White and Black people voted for our brother in sufficient numbers for him to win the democratic nomination for President.
I think your anger is not about brother's victory but about people did not listen to you and follow your lead. As a leader, you should debrief your position and conclude, that you did not have your finger on the pulse of the people you want to lead. This appears to be a very difficult lesson for you to accept. The people not following your lead is not a flaw with the people. The flaw is in your leadership. The people evidently saw your leadership as leading them to the ditch. Get over it.
Anger will eat you up until you won't even know yourself. Quit it, my brother, quit it. Your anger is not good for your health, mental of physical. Love will take you much further than anger. Look to self first, before you try to find fault in others. We love you. We just don't agree with you. Get over it and move on. There is a whole world waiting on us, the sleeping giant, to awaken and take our rightful place in the world oder of things. Come on go with me to our Father's house. There is joy, joy, joy!! May God continue to order our steps.
Pastor
A Black man got Black and White Democrats to support him and he defeated a former first lady, Hillary Clinton. That is only half of the story. Democrats have to be careful because all of our Blacks are in their party. They have to tread lightly. So, yes it is conceivable that Barack could get enough Democrats to beat Hillary. Out of 35 million Deomocratic votes, Hillary got 18 million with Michigan and Florida. That is a lot of White Democrats.
The other half of the story is everybody else outside of the Democratic Party. And don't forget my naive political brother that the White Southern Democrats voted with the Republcans to defeat Gore and Kerry.
At the end of the Democratic Primaries, Hillary was getting the White vote and Barack relied on Blacks. Take Texas, he only carried the Black enclaves of Dallas and Houston while Hillary took the rest of Texas [Whites and Hispanics]. These were Democrats.
The brother might pull it off but you and Edwards need to go and get White, White, White people who look like the white woman to vote for Barack.
I am not angry and I do not hate Barack, I just know politics and he is a huge gamble with our children's future. I am disturbed that so many of our people are deceived by this con man.
Well we have seen a great man named Jesus who was a leader who was abandoned by His followers. The crowd was asked, Do you want Jesus or Barackus, I mean Barrabus, and the crowd said give us Barabbus. As you can see the crowd can be wrong. I might be wrong about Barack but I seriously doubt it.
The political operatives that I know and respect are not for Barack. We supported Hillary. We have lost that fight and the ball is in your court. I am not angry because I am a seasoned political operative and I am just disappointed so many Blacks and Whites are falling for this deceiver. Time will truly tell.
I see Jesse Jackson has remained silent too long and is seeing this deceiver for what he is. It is unfortunate that Jesse said he would like to cut Barack b...s off; I predict all of you will have the same sentiments as you remove the vail from your eyes and see.
Stay tuned as this thing is far from over.
Be nice fellows this is just friendly dialog.
marshall
Marshall, Marshall,
I believe you say stuff just to get a rise out of people. This situation is too serious for you to be playing. However, even in war a good comedy can be appreciated. Thanks for the laugh.
Pastor Pastor
I am not playing but I am making my points in somewhat dramatic and at times lighthearted ways. I have worked the political landscape far too long to not know the seriousness of this political cycle. I am so disturbed that so many Blacks have been duped by a smooth con man. It can happen to any of us. It is very possible that I am wrong about Barack but time will tell.
You did not say much in your last response and I'm trying to see if you were lost for words or what. I had too many serious points in my comments that you ignored but you zeroed in on the lighthearted statements. So why don't you deal with the serious points.
We tried to show the distinction between Whites voting for Barack and White Democrats voting. It is not the same. Blacks are loaded in the Democratic Party, this helped Obama as White Democrats wanted to show that they are not racist. Barack benefitted from their avoidance of the race thing.
I also pointed out that non Democrats in November are a different beast. You know that. And I pointed out that even the Democrats began to gravitate to the Democrat who looks like them as Hillary racked up the White vote in the later primary states. The Texas example is classic.
In conclusion, Barack did not finish as strongly as you try to portray him at the end of the nomination process. He squeaked by in his own party. She got 18 million Democrats that he desperately needs.
You may want the White woman to go away but it appears Barack does not agree with you. I guarantee you that there is no laughing in the Obama camp as Hillary holds the key to ensure his victory. We are all serious but sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying. That is where I am at this point Pastor.
Seriously,
John Marshall
Here you go again Marshall, giving Hilliary the power, power that hopefully she understands she does not have. The bottomline is this; Barack is going to be our next president and if not then what was supposed to have happened did, what happens is what is supposed to be. Marshall your eye is so on people that you are missing the mark. You judge myself and Rev. Ajabu, but by whose standards, we are only accountable to one, as are you. No one is leading anyone here, just folks who understand and have a high regard for the one who is powerful over all. I noticed how you so gracefully steered away from the scripture I shared with you. It is my hope that while you think you are well versed in politics that you attach wisdom to that which you speak so highyly of. You continue to call Barack a "con man," I wonder where you are getting this information. You also mentioned how he won the black vote, when I watched as Gary, IN (a predominately black community) were not on one accord and Barack lost them to Hillary. I agree Hilliary is helping Barack's campaign, but not as it relates to need for him but need for us as a country stiving to make a significant, positive difference for all of the people; in essence you need Hilliary to help Barack. I support Barack because I believe he stands on ethical, moral and most importantly spiritual principle. I know he isn't perfect, but then neither am I or anyone else. So, don't hate on me for not kicking a brother and shooting him down out of fear. I realize now you are not hating on Barack, you seem to be afraid. I hope you get connected to that which you profess to believe, then you will come to know what is meant by not considering the things of this world and we don't focus on people but know who you are and that we only behave what we believe. May God bless you Marshall, and oh by the way stop taking so much for-granted, I am a beautiful, bold and empowered black woman of God's who seeks to function under the wisdom of the most High God.
Edwards
I apologize if I have referred to you as he. I want to share with you that I know God is in control of it all. It is difficult for me to hear you and Pastor say what God is thinking. He reigns over the just and the unjust. I cannot say if he is on Barack's side juat because Barack won the Democratic nomination. We really don't know.
On this earthly level, politics is a science. We who deal with it are operatives who are right and sometimes we are wrong. I just happen to think that Barack is a slick operative [con man] based on his words and actions. I have articulated those examples in numerous discussions with Pastor.
None of us know what God will do. I am of a different opinion from you and Pastor. That is not anger, that is not fear, and it certainly is not hate as you stated in your comment.
You said I gave Hillary power just because I said Barack needs her. Many political operatives agree with me and many agree with you. That doesn't mean I or other politicos take this thing personal.
What may come across as anger, hate, and fear is that the Black people in America are going down a path that can devastate them if this thing is miscalculated. I have all of those three feelings when I see our people could be heading for danger with Barack. I could be dead wrong but I can't go along with the crowd knowing what I Know.
God has the last word but White people outnumber Black people in America. The majority rules and they are the majority. I have said repeatedly that my fear, anger and even hate is what whites have done and could do with this election.
I hope you and Pastor would put my rage in its proper place and that is with racist White America and traitorous uncle toms. If Barack turns out to be a traitor and a deceiver then I will exhibit anger, hate and fear with him.
Barack is just a guy who is from offshore who I don't think knows the people he is dealing with. The Non Democrats are extremely anti Black. Even the Democrats are not all that in love with Blacks but their party has all of the American Blacks in it. So they have to tread lightly when dealing with a Black presidential candidate to avoid being called racist. Many Southern Democrats hate Blacks and you can expect them to vote with the Republicans like they did with Gore and Kerry [both white].
I hope you place my anger, hate and fear properly and it is not with Obama as it is with the racist Whites and the Black traitors. If he is found to be a traitor then all of the above applies to him.
Peace and Understanding
marshall
Marshall,
You sound so confused. At one point you say we can't depend on white folks and in the next breath you are saying we should have depended on a white woman. If your beef is not with Barack, but with racist whites then direct your highly emotional feelings at them. If you are afraid because you don't know enough about Barack, don't trash him. Give him the benefit of the doubt until he removes the doubt. Quit being so negative.
My brother, it is easy to determine what God will do after the fact. God will do what was done. If God did not want it, then it wouldn't be. Barack won the nomination. This is a fact. Therefore, Barack won the nomination because God Barack to win the nomination. I state again, it is easy to know God's wishes after something has happened. Knowing why is another issue, but knowing what is a done deal.
If you are going to respond you best do it quickly. It is time to move on. We are getting ready to place Jesse comments in historical context. Buckle up. I am sure for you it is going to be a rough ride.
